I have been too busy to listen yet. I am surprised at the complete lack of mention of her new show or the new 97.1 morning show on here. I was expecting multiple threads filled with both snark and glowing reviews from uberfans peeing their pants in glee. Alas, nothing.

I've listened on and off to both new shows, as I was a fan of their former afternoon show. It's going to take a while to match the chemistry that all of them had, if it ever happens. We shall see...

Trix has it right.

As for Charlie in the morning? I listen for the music...that's it. I do NOT want to hear Dr. Skip & Douggie blathering on about absolutely nothing for nearly five minutes at a time.

I gave it two days, and I left. IMO, not a good move for Charlie.

Hey Chaplain TURN YOUR IPOD on if you want to hear just music!!!!I like the show and the good music! Its this awful POS Movin that I think is a complete piece of garbage. MOVIN is unlistenable! They play the same 10 songs OVER AND OVER AND OVER!! Charlie is one of the best stations in portland.

I think Charlie sounds great and will continue to do fine in the ratings. A morning show is needed in the morning, an all music mornings will get old after a while and people will go elewhere.
Now Movin 107.5 continues to amaze me of what a stale and tiresome format that is. I also think it is a bit odd that they still don't have dj's on that station, yet they continue to run those stupid liners from "BRAD" telling you what the format is about. I have no problem with a dance format but MOVIN has no potential for anything. They play very few new tunes and continue to play Tone LOC and Brittney Spears every ten minutes. I don't see how you can have a format based on Crappy old songs. Vanilla Ice is fun to hear once in a while, but every day??? I think Movin will need to make some major musical adjustments if they want to be taken seriously by anybody.

The Daria and Mitch show should be called the "daria" show because Mitch plays no role in that show at all. Its all Daria. IT reminds me when Daria was on the NRK morning show a few years back with Gustav. Gustav did nothing but tell you the time while Daria ran the whole show. Daria is a great talent, but I liked her better when she was on the afternoon buzz.
As Far as Dr. Doug and Skippy goes, I like them on Charlie but I
think they need a female co-host on the show.
Movin 107.5 is so bad it is no longer worth talking about.

"Its this awful POS Movin that I think is a complete piece of garbage. MOVIN is unlistenable! They play the same 10 songs OVER AND OVER AND OVER!!"
Come on Justin... Why do you listen? You must if you know that they only play 10 songs still.....If it is unlistenable, don't go there. We have known from day one that you don't like the format or the station. No need to keep reminding us of it.

"They play very few new tunes and continue to play Tone LOC and Brittney Spears every ten minutes." If this is true, then you are obviously listening to them or you would not know that. Here again, if you don't like it, don't listen.

Look at the ADS... not only MOOOOVIN PDX, but other MOOOOOVINs are seeking jocks..... ANd they don't care what size market or format you do now! If you are a team player with a desire to win, mooooooooVIN might be for you.

Why I bet within 6 years, most of the MOOOOOOOOOOvin stations will have at least one live airperson that relates to their female demo.

The MoooooooooooVin talent search goes far and wide to bring exactly the right jock on board to fit that mOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOvIN lifestle.
Look for them to ad another 10 songs for each personality that they bring on board.

I don't know? too sarcastic?

Well if PDX 107.5 ever gets going now that they have a new PD and if Stacey when done with leave went live it could maybe do something. But right now on automation I agree it is nothing. I do not say that because I do not like the music....there is no structure or actual show involved! IMHO
Automated stations on FM are just not worth listening to. If I want that i'll go XM Sat radio or just "ZUNE" it.
Until a live show developes it's just an IPOD on shuffle.

Daria and Mitch are hard to listen to. Daria as a host doesnt cut it, they talked for 15 minutes on Tues about where Mitch should live in Portland,he cracked some joke and Daria wasnt feeling it. They lost me by end of the week. 97.1 suprised me this week- I was one on here that said it was a bad move to add djs to am show on Charlie but I actually liked it this week those guys with a good amount of requests felt pretty good to me.

Both shows are in a transition period. Both started gently by trying not to change what was going on too much, as they tried not to lose much of the former audience. Give them both time to get where they're going.

No offense but just don't give a rip! Why wait when there are other shows not in transition! THE QUICK AND THE DEAD, The quick and the dead. Get it together or say goodbye! Why go baby steps....just dive in and go for it. Better two good shows and two half assed POS! No pain no gain!

Hey, Dakrtemper, If you don't care, why do you post in this thread?

If it were me I would do exactly as you said: grab the emergency brake and turn it around abruptly, but then that's just me, and I don't have an audience (not to mention a job) that I'm interested in preserving.

Just giving two cents about if you are gonna change why mess around with it. Just make the change and be done with it. Stations do not mess around like that with a format change....why do it with a show change. Dive into it with both feet and go for it!

Stations usually make a format change when the current one tanks. They have no listeners to lose. In this case, the changes were for different reasons. Both stations do fairly well, so both have something to lose (i.e. listeners).

They stand that same chance by floundering with new shows as well. Listeners are like a Finaky cat. It needs to be wow in your face I Love It or they go somewhere else. IMHO of course. I myself will not stay entertained with a ho hum show even giving it is new. I will only sample it at best two days and then bye bye. The same for TV. If after the 2nd episode I do not find it entertaining I am gone for good. FIRST IMPRESSIONS last a long time for me and typically usually are correct in the long run.

All I was trying to say is the risk to lose people is there either way so just make the switch and do it. Dragging it out will only wind up losing old listeners and new ones tuning in get a crappy first impression!

The jobs opened in early January.

You guys should know if you're in radio that it takes a good year for a station to fully evolve into something that's a fully functioning station.

And Dark...it's different if the talent is already known in town...but people DO hate you if you do too much right off the bat. You have to give them a chance to build a bond. Imagine you saw some stranger doing a wacky stunt downtown. Now imagine that stranger is a friend of yours...that stunt would be a lot funnier if you knew the person.

It takes time for everything to build. And considering Lisa just got to Portland in November...in the midst of the crazy holiday season, I think the timeline for jocks is moving along at a good pace. It will get there...

This MOVIN FORMAT HAS to evolve. Charlie played their entire playlist in the 6 am hour!!! If Movin was smart they would start playing new music.
and Copernicus remember how cut throat portland is ESPECIALLY WITH RATINGS! No station has a year to have poor or marginal ratings. YOU need to have Good Ratings NOW not later, not in a year, NOW! Today is a prime example of how a LIVE morning show is greatly needed. When the weather gets bad like today people want to be kept informed with the latest weather and traffic. Movin has been on auutopilot since october, way too long.

I don't care what FM does with any morning show....on days like this my radio goes to AM 1190 KEX. Traffic and Weather constantly. No sub for this in my books. FM would never invest that much time and energy into that kind of local news and information!

Isnt this a thread about the new Daria show? Daria has never been my cup of tea and this new show is just unlistenable to me. She goes on and on and I just do not find it entertaining at all. Doug and Skippy were a million times better IMO.

Beano....I'm curious about why you harp on Movin' so much...have you ever worked in radio?...have you ever programmed a radio station? Have you ever done any research into what works and doesn't work, what people's listening habits are, etc?

It's extremely clear to me that you don't like the radio station so why do you bother to listen and put negative comments on the board...we get it...you don't like it. Please be more positive.

Beano I hear you, 97.1 could use a female on air with them..but after a week or so we were digging listening to it, they have been mixing in alot of music, like alot, some weird music ( the random format is odd some mornings) and some funny crap. News and traffic reports would be a plus to add to Dr D and Skippy show.. Daria and the new dude ramble and she has a huge ego ( all the radio queen and radio god things bug me).
Good evening.

A little news and a little traffic is OK, but not too much. I remember listening to Tim and Carrie back on Mix 1075 and they had WAAAAY too many news and traffic reports. Infact the whole show revolved around news and Traffic. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ! Its too bad too because I enjoyed hearing Tim Taylor in the morning. I also enjoyed Bill Jackson a lot too. That station had a lot of potential but was very poorly programed!

See...I don't agree with that. Carolla isn't a morning guy...he worked entirely too long at nights to be able to turn it on in the morning..

And I have an active hate for Bonaduce. The *only* reason he is entertaining is one day he will totally melt down and I'd looooooove to watch/hear it. Just because I'm a filthy American.
