Saw this on the Tribune website...OSU sports going to KPAM starting in 2007:

Major coup.

I wonder if Beaver Backer Bob Miller had any influence on this, or perhaps the combination of Dwight Jaynes & Bob Miller.

Along with the intelligent programs of Victoria Taft and Professor Robert Eisinger, this gives me yet another reason to keep listening to KPAM.

Now if they would only dump Clark Howard [again] and give Professor Eisinger that slot, I'd be thrilled.

Eisinger occasionally fills in for Victoria, and is KPAM's political analyst.

KPAM's gain is certainly KEX's loss. The down side to this is that KPAM has lousy coverage at night outside of the Portland metro area. While OSU sports can be heard in Eugene (840AM), Corvallis/Albany (1240AM), Salem (1390 or 1430..I don't remember which), none of these stations has a large footprint at night. I could always count on KEX to come through when I was "between footprints."

A valid point.

Perhaps the combination of the Pamplin empire of newsprint, Radio and webcasting helped convince OSU to make the switch.

Hopefully Mr. Pamplin will buy a few more Radio stations up and down the valley. How about KSHO 920 AM? Or KLOO 106.3FM?

That'd be niiiiiiice.

And while KEX indeed enjoys a great signal, I'm not sure how much that plays since Arbitron diaries and media buys may not be a factor outside of the valley.

It would have to be 1430; 1390 is KISN. OSU may have to pick up 1260.

KYKN (1430 AM) in Salem broadcasts the Ducks. Oregon State doesn't have a station in Salem/Keizer, not since KYKN's owners sold KSLM to Entercom a few years ago.
