Not really Airchecks as such, but...

I'm in the process of salvaging my old Cassestes from the attic and getting them into my PC for archiving.

In the process I've come across & saved some recordings from the radio that may be of interest to some here.

These were recorded from about 1971 through 1973(ish).

My intent when recording them was for the music (if I'd only known how much more interesting the stuff in between is).

The quality varies, as the tapes are all old, and some was recorded directly onto a reel to reel machine, and some with a microphone in front of a clock radio.

I'm wondering about posting etiquette.
I have them saved in mp3 format & could post them to a made-up website, or jsut send them to anyone who's interested.

included:
Craig Stevens KBZY (spring break 1971)
Mike Shannon KGAL (date unknown)
Chris Alexander KPAM (date unknown)
Michael O'Brien KPAM (date unknown)

Unknown (to me anyway) DJ KBZY
Unknown DJ KPAM

I'm also still working on some from KFXD in Boise (Summer 1973).

You might take a look at the Aircheck Collectors boards at Radio Insight and newurl{http://www.radio-info.com/smf/index.php/board,300.0.html,Radio-Info} to see how it's often done.

For making files available that are too large for email, many collectors upload to intermediaries like http://www.sendspace.com/ and http://www.yousendit.com/, then post the URL for anyone to download the files for a limited period of time.

Amus;
Any chance of you getting the Mike Shannon aircheck to me, if it's no trouble.

I hope these links work.

I have also found a recording of KGON on memorial day weekend I think it's 1991.
I have not yet edited it though.

Thanks for the airchecks.

KGAL Mike Shannon (Charlie Fox) is from February 1975 judging from the music and weather report. The Polly Brown song entered the Billboard chart the week of 2/8/75.

KPAM Michael O'Brien is likely from around November/December '73. David Bowie's Pin-Up LP from which "Sorrow" was played was released in October 1973. Croce's "Time in a Bottle" entered the chart 12/1/73.

KPAM No Name is likely summer of '74. "Band on the Run" entered the chart 5/4/74 and "Radar Love on 6/24/74.

The "Unidentified DJ KPAM" sounds like Dan Gibson. Dan did weekend evenings when I was doing weekend overnights in 1974.

BTW- MP3 is a "lossy" format. I'd remaster it as a wave file, and convert it to MP3 only for emailing/posting when file size or format is an issue.

Thaks Shane.

It's all in wave format on the hard drive.
Thought I'd conserve BW on the posts.
