I even hear commercials on the radio, especially Lars, saying "5 -Oh-3" instead of "5-Zero-3" or has our language changed since school?

I get funny looks when I say "Zero" sometimes. Like I'm some old school freak. It's changed --for the worse, IMHO. On that note, I hate the literal reading of the numbers. It's quick, but it's not as cool as actual time specifications: Quarter after the hour Half-past etc...

We have intentionally tried to hang as many analog clocks around the house as possible...give our kids analog watches (which they hate) because we have found the younger generation can only think/read time in digital terms. My youngest still will walk into the next room to read a digital clock rather than take the effort to deciper an analog one right in front of her. "Dad, what does 'bottom of the hour' mean?" Aargh.

and there are terms like clockwise, or counterclockwise. I wonder, if originally clocks were built to go "clockwise" is because that the direcion sundials took?

Hey Edsel-- I swear by analogue clocks & watches! Have a 1998 Armitron which I have crashed out multiile times on the bike (especially taking jumps) and she still keeps incredibly accurate time. "Takes A Licking and Keeps On Ticking" indeed!! I am of the younger generation (22) and aside from my alarm clock (which I have had since 1993) and the clock on my VCR (which I can't really do anything about...) I truly prefer analogue clocks over digital. "Quarter After Fourteen", in my mind, sounds much more intelligent than saying "1415"! Nwokie, re: clockwise sundials~ Does seem quite logical to me......
