Almost makes you long for the good old days of voice-tracking! I hope Janine decides to stay.

I wondered what a almost all-network station would have on its "community events" page. It was about what I'd guessed!

This should take care of your concerns about Janine Semoochie...

And there is your future in radio.... multi-tasking. Three full-time and important jobs - one (probably small) salary.

....Three full-time and important jobs - one (probably small) salary.....

I have no problem with working harder, but I still can't see how piling on the duties makes for an effecient, effective employee. Too many tasks means the quality of one, or more aspects of the job will suffer.

Take a PD who is responsible for 5 stations. (I do know one)

He admits that he can not give full attention to ALL 5 stations. Obviously the potential of the neglected stations suffers though he puts in 12 plus hour days. In the long run, though some cost savings are acheived by "multitasking", I am of the belief that revenue potential has to suffer due to overwork and understaffing.

In Jannine's case, what gives? Promotions director is, (or can be) full time in its own right, based on how much activity the station is promoting, keeping the website up to date can take a few minutes to several hours a day depending on how much content is being added. Plus, show prep and a shift whether live or VTed adds how many more hours?

I would think the risk of burning out a good employee would make one think long and hard before piling on the job titles.

Radio has always been multi tasking for many, air shift, personal appearances, production, maybe some copy, imaging....

It works well when you have a staff to share the load. Understaffed and overworked lends itself to an underperforming station................

Just my thoughts. Am sure some will, and do, disagree.

Merry Christmast and seasons greetings to one and all. A prosperous and successful New Years to everyone.

It's a shame to make these changes now, just when KIJZ was starting to develop a voice of it's own with local talent. With these changes it's too bad they didn't look at adding Cedric James or Jay Phillips to their satellite feed station!
