A real nice christian video game for your kiddies this holiday season.

But Plugged In, a publication of the conservative Christian group Focus on the Family, gave the game a "thumbs-up." The reviewer called it "the kind of game that Mom and Dad can actually play with Junior.

Yep, no relationship between religion and terror, none whatsoever!

"But Plugged In, a publication of the conservative Christian group Focus on the Family, ... "

Maybe it's my dirty mind working here, but that doesn't sound like a proper name for a conservative Christian publication!

I'm just amazed that a group called "focus on the family" would condone a video game in which you kill non-believers. That's basically condoning terrorism.

You're putting the blame in the wrong place.

Those without faith are already spiritually dead.

The goal is to reach for life.

So you support murdering non-believers?

What if there was a video game that encourages the killing of christians?

No.

My point is that we are all dead without faith.

I'm not a big proponent of games that kill people.

"Maybe it's my dirty mind working here, but that doesn't sound like a proper name for a conservative Christian publication!"

I wonder if Ted Haggard had anything to do with this Plugged In publication?

Oh by the way off subject a bit but has anyone seen Jesus Camp yet. I found it very interesting and very frightening at the same time.

I'd like to see which pastors and churches come out in favor of this game and how they explain it. If the point of the game is indeed to metaphorically show that, "we are all (spiritually) dead without faith," as Herb puts it, then this game makes me a bit queasy. As the linked article says, the players on Jesus's side are given the option of converting or killing opponents. If they go for the kill, some prayer makes everything OK. I just don't like this because it seems to me that the risk of somebody interpreting the game on a more literal level is just too great--especially given the audience that would prefer this game: Evangelical Christians with very literal world views.

Wasn't "Convert or Die" the game that early Christians used to play with live lions in the ancient Roman colisseum?
