I got a dumb robot when I asked for a tape recorder when I was about 8 (my brother got the tape recorder instead).

(eventually I traded for the recorder and some 4 decades later, I still own it)

My father dropped a lump of coal in my stocking one year.

I kid you not. He threatened to, and by God he did!

I got other bigger gifts, but that was the only thing in my stocking that year - a great big lump of coal.

I got some poker cards at Christmas years ago but my parents made me take them back because they were Mennonites and card-playing, even for fun, was a no no. I enjoy it now.
