The new Secretary of Defense told the U.S. Senate this morning that the U.S. is losing the war in Iraq, every day and every way.

But his boss, the sad sack W, says we are winning.

This is very good news. We need as many realists in the administration and as much congressional oversight as possible. That way, we'll turn this tragic waste of American and Iraqi lives into something effective we can be proud of.

Perhaps we ought to withdraw ... to Afghanistan, where we can start offering some meaningful support to the regime we set up in that country.

I'm scared that the delusional Bush will revoke Gates' nomination with this snippet ... Bush wants a group of Yes Men (and women), not people that dare to think for themselves and question the messed-up rhetoric of the administration.

I bet that Gates saying that gets him in for sure now. Fodder for the Democrats to use against Dubya.
