"Whoop-dee freakin do. Please remind me why we care???" Because for every story that ends up like this, there are a dozen others that end at drive-thru windows.

C'mon people, Michelle is a very nice person. She does alot to help the industry and would give you the shirt off of her back. If it was anyone else, I would say nothing. But in this case, your beating up a good human being. Have a heart!!

The Kiss & Tell show was never voicetracked, and neither is my show in NC...Actually, my experience is that in comparison to some companies, Entercom does very little voicetracking. And thanks, GMHeller -

Michele is one of those people that "get's it" when it comes to radio, and like Gmheller said, she would do anything to help someone land a gig. She's the reason I'm working today. Michele is one of the good gals, and I sure do miss her.

Bunsofsteel, Based on your statement, I'm concluding that you don't think a current issue involving a job change of a Portland radio personality is worthy of posting here. FYI- there are hundreds of millions of websites that aren't about radio. Perhaps you'd be happier reading one of those.

I only talked to Michelle a few times over the years, but she was always gracious and friendly. I wish nothing but great things for her!

Michelle is talented, however, her show on 99.5 could have easily been replaced by Lia or Delilah. Both her, and the girl whos on at night at KUPL, Carole who is also talented, sound this way. Very lame, very non threatining. Not since NPR had radio made me so sleepy.

Hey Bob - you obviously didn't listen to my show too much (or fell asleep because it was past your bedtime). Yeah, I did dedications, but it was actually nothing like Delilah, Lia or Carole. I went out of my way to limit the sleepy romance and did a heavily prepped, personal, more opinionated type of show that was directly targeted to the station's listeners. All the stuff people on this board say they want jocks to do - be live, prep, localize, take some chances - I did that, and the show was very successful. OK, flame away, guys. Just had to defend myself here. Anyone who listened to the show regularly would know it really bore only a slight content or musical resemblance to KUPL or Delilah.

Just an armchair observer with 30+ years of programming experience...I believe Kiss & Tell with Michelle was a First Class program: great use of listener audio...obviously a "likable real person" communicating & bringing out the best in her listeners. Mike Moore has some big shoes to fill in this slot. The other shows mentioned by EugeneBob aren't even in the same league. Live and local baby!!!

I have to give props to KUPL for continuing to put on great radio that is LIVE AND LOCAL! It souds great and listeners love it. Now lets get to k103, that miday Voice tracked girl is AWFUL! She tries to sound waaaay to hip for that audience. Bring back Sherri Wright! the lady behind the drive through window at KFC is more personable than Voice tracked midday girl on k103!

Michelle, you are missed. I hope everything is going well for you and that you are enjoying the new market. Give me a call. We didn't get to talk much after you got back from Mexico and were on your way to the new gig. Oh, and Michelle is single handedly solving the problems of the world, one person at a time. Cheers, Iris

In response to your question Outsider, What's she doing about low wages and how deregulation has layed our industry to waste? The answer is, what can she do about it! The damage has been done already, and it's not her or anybody elses fault on here. In my case, Michelle is one of those people that helped me get into the business, and I'm grateful for her! That's about it! If you know her, you'd love her!

well....and really, I do believe low wages have always been an integral part of being in radio. If you want to be on the air, or in a studio...you have to realize that you will always make less than the sales people. Unless you can last at a job for 20 years, or get mornings in some crazy market number

ITs called TALENT Copernicus, and ASS KISSING. Being talented and kissing ass will get you far in radio, although talent doesn't seem to matter anymore. Any joe blow can get a job on air these days.

See...I know too many people who "aspire" to be on air to believe that anyone can get on the air. Oh, the fine art of ass kissing. I have noticed that these types self implode as soon as it comes to demonstrating what they know...because kissing ass can only take you so far, especially if you don't have any skills on the board.
