I was simply pointing out that while many will take Wayne to task for his beliefs, what they actually need to do is to take those sharing his beliefs to task as well.

I've never met Wayne, but if he's as engaging in real life as he is on this board, he's definitely not boring and would liven up any party.

The only thing I dislike about the Man is he try's to read to much into everything and is to rigid in that he cannot agree with anyone else's point of view on anything. Sometimes how we perceive things is different and I understand that but he cannot and will not try to see anything through anyone else's eye's. Passion is one thing that is great but when combined with unyielding and absolutism as an attitude there cannot ever be any civil discussion's with the man. He needs to lighten up and quit assuming the whole world is out to get him and just explain how he perceive's things to be true and just explain his point of view once in a while. If we were to understand the thought process and the man behind it maybe he would not be under attack so much.

And regarding the slavery issue, yes, a lot of people owned slaves back then, and that doesn't diminish the legacies of George Washington or Thomas Jefferson. My point was, that just because someone believed something two centuries ago, doesn't mean it applies to modern day thinking. You proved my point better than I could on my own, so thanks!

Slavery, while of course dead wrong, was looked upon in a favorable light back then. Adultery, especially with one of your slaves, was NOT.

Why did Lieberman win if the war was the issue? I think most people want a different direction for the war. But they understand that pulling out cold turkey like you want would be a huge mistake.
