This sounds like a good promotion. Sell the idea to a shopping center. Ala, WKRP.

> "Hey, let's toss some turkeys out of a helicopter" Yeah, and how about starting with some of the turkeys on this board?

Inspired by the WKRP episode, the turkey dropping promotion promotion was actually done in Bend, by KICE IN November 1979. It was a disaster.

Ahm yes a TOTAL disaster, although we had it planned very well. We were going to drop ping pong balls from a slow and low flying airplane (couldn't get a copter) over the shooping malls in Redmond and Bend. Problem was, our guy in the plane with the bag o' balls went to put it out the door to do the drop...the wind caught the bag and he was left holding the two corners and nothing else. We dissapeared, people got hurt diving for the bag full of prize balls, and another unfortunate chapter of radio promotion history was written.

Richard Sanders(that's his name, right?)used to make appearances at radio stations that used the turkey drop promotion. Maybe, he still does.

That's cracking me up --thinking about that sinking feeling right then! I'm sure the sheepish look followed, by the realization that a ton of time and resources had just been wasted. Actually, it would have been cool, had it worked.

I think it was KGON that did the "Classic Rock Turkey Drop" at waterfront park a few years ago... people showed up with nets, sheets.. and anything else to catch a turkey... the helicopter flew over and a few feathers fell from the sky... then something popped out the back followed by more of these things floating down to the ground.... the were paper turkeys with gift certificates stapled to them for a free turkey at safeway... I don't recall if anyone got hurt, however it was a madhouse at waterfront park that afternoon. Tommy Boye
