Who takes Jesse Jackson seriously anymore? I don't. I think I'll buy the new Seinfeld DVD now that he mentions it - it's got the "Soup Nazi" episode! Too funny!!!

Some black worker who was a good friend of mine told me that sometimes they will use the word "negar" which is french for brother.

Richard Pryor used it copiously.

Besides, only a fool would think that forbidding words changes peoples prejudices.

Like the FCC trying to forbid certain words.

I think it's considered "OK" for black people to use the "N" word but not for other races to use it. I guess the rationale is that you can't be using the word in a racist manner if you yourself are of the same race that the word puts down.

I wouldn't call it a double standard. It wouldn't be OK for a black person to call a person of another race some epitaph. Again, it's not really racism when referring to one's own race.

If the word is "negar" and not the other word in question it would have a different meaning. I wonder if blacks are beginning to realize that its probably not a good idea to use that word because of the connection.

I am against it. You seem to be for it. I wish people would stop trying to convert me to believe in homosexuality. That is whats on Trix's mind. Thats why all that garbage is being posted. They are frustrated that I can't come over to their side, Thats all they seem to care about. Why did Trix post the way he did? Only one reason. He is trying to force me to be for gay marriage. He DID ... in the early part of his career. In the early '80s, he made a trip to Africa with his wife at the time and saw the people there. He was so moved at what he called the "beauty, grace and innocence" of the people he never used the word again.

If you can find his autobiography, do so. A very interesting read into a man who had an inordinate amount of demons in his life.

The use of the word nigger is quite perplexing to me. It's probably the most cutting insult you can call somebody that is black, yet black people themselves use the word all the time to describe "their homies."

So which is it?

I don't have a problem with black people using the word, but what I do have a problem with is when white people get raked over the coals when using it, by the same people that use it themselves. That's a double standard in my book.

Regarding the word "negar", I did a little research and can't find that word in the dictionary or on Google. All I found was a very nice looking model named Negar Kahn, who is a muslim (former I believe) who likes to show off her varsity fun bags.
