When I left KATU in 1994 their deductible on such incidents was $50,000.00 The photogs had to resort to parking with the hatch back of the vans up against a concrete wall even though the lot across the street was fenced in with cameras. At least the thief didn't get the camera, lens, wireless mic xmtr/rcvr, and tripod.

Geez, Jim Bosley musta cost a heck of a lot of dough back then if KATU couldn't afford better insurance. On the upside, cameras are cheaper today. A $5000 mini DV cam in the hands of a professional could fool most viewers.

Serves the idiot right! Thats what you get for leaving all of that equipment in your car! I see it everyday when Im in downtown portland. Cars parked on the street with their removable decks in, Huge packages in the back seats. IDIOTS! People WAKE UP! You don't leave anything in your car, especially during the holiday season, EVEN CHANGE! Those crazy Meth heads will break into your car if they see two bucks in change laying in your car. It amazes me how stupid some people are, leaving all that stuff in their car.
