http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15848198/ BAGHDAD, Iraq - The United Nations said Wednesday that 3,709 Iraqi civilians were killed in October, the highest monthly toll since the March 2003 U.S. invasion and another sign of the severity of Iraq’s sectarian bloodbath. “Hundreds of bodies continued to appear in different areas of Baghdad handcuffed, blindfolded and bearing signs of torture and execution-style killing,” the U.N. Assistance Mission for Iraq report said. “Many witnesses reported that perpetrators wear militia attire and even police or army uniforms.” The report painted a grim picture across the board, from attacks on journalists, judges and lawyers and the worsening situation of women to displacement, violence against religious minorities and the targeting of schools. -Is Iraq really better off now than before the invasion?

And their nearly all killed by other Iraqis. Doesnt matter anyway, the only important thing, is that Iraq is no longer in a position to threaten US interests.

Like oil we don't own? (...err didn't own until we setup a provisional government that transferred the rights to it to international corporations...) And having that mess over there, that we caused, protects us how?

Sure wish the prez could take a bath in the blood he's spilling for the false wmd threat. There are 2 facets over the tub. One for American blood, the other for Iraqi blood. Only one temperature -- COLD!

Why is it that there is hardly ever any GOOD news coming from the war anymore? Oh. Yeah. Speaking of that, what would be the BEST news possible for someone who is all for the war right now? What could we still accomplish that we haven't already? Name something. Give me ONE GOOD reason to be all happy about it. Until then, yeah; It's not going good on any level anymore. We got Saddam and tried and convicted him. OK. NOW what? What is it that we are tring to do now? I honestly forget. Democracy? Was that it? We're going to stay there until Democracy, as WE know it, takes hold? No thanks. I don't want to wait 15 years for that.

I'm sure that if Iraq explodes into a full-scale civil war and becomes the failed state Afghanistan was when al Qaeda moved in in the 1990s, Iraq would never, ever become the same kind of terrorist haven. The only thing we ever had to worry about in Iraq was Saddam and now that he's gone, there will never be anything else to worry about there. I'm also glad terrorists didn't get their hands on a lot of military supplies some of which could be used for WMDs, from unguarded Iraq storehouses after the 2003 US invasion. Fortunately, there were plenty of troops in Iraq to maintain order after the invasion and everything was guarded, right? Andrew

"Doesn't matter anyway, the only important thing, is that Iraq is no longer in a position to threaten US interests." Iraq wasn't a real threat to US interests with Saddam. He was contained. One thing I can tell you, is that the activities going on each day would never be happening with Saddam in control. Saddam wasn't ideal, but he's better than what we have today. And, it's my belief that Iraq in it's present form is MORE of a threat to US interests as a result of our own actions. It's like we egged our own house or keyed our own car!
