Went by circuit city and Wal-Mart tonight and there were lots of people there on the sidewalks in sleeping bags. They have been there since early this morning they said. All just to be the first to spend $600.00 on some stupid game. With the limited supply you know half of those will hit Ebay for double that. I would only do that way back when for good seats to a concert but not for some game that is the better part of $1,000.00!!! I thought about walking out of the store and yelling out that they started selling them early inside and it was first come first serve and watch em scramble....HAH!!! But I did not....if they want to stay out in 40 degree weather all day and night so be it....

It least one individual at the front of a line in Eugene was offered $3000 for his place in line.

It's pretty goofy. IMHO, it's not enough of a shift in tech to justify the lines this time around. The first pass on the Playstation and maybe the next cycle of Playstation and Xbox was worth the hassle.

The price point was about half of what it is today and the value differential over older units, in terms of better gameplay, was very good.

This time around, the games might be bigger, but not always better. With the higher price point, I'm not sure the hype has any substance.

Wonder how many of those buyers are gonna go straight to e-bay? I would consider that, more than the value of having the unit this time around, worth some time in line.

On the geek side, the Playstation does come running Linux! I'd love to tinker, but not on seriously closed platforms and at those price points...

We will probably see some of the same fan-boy crap for Microsoft Vista too.

Here is a riot waiting to happen.....gaurantee they probably only have about 20 to sell then that's it till later next year.....like I said these guys are NUTZ!!!!!

Here's a GOOD story: The opportunists who camp out at these places to buy the PS3 only to turn around and sell them on eBay at exorbitant prices are getting chumped--by other geeks.

It appears a few people have declared themselves "internet equalizers" and are signing up to eBay with false accounts, targeting EVERY PS3 auction there is, and bidding upwards of 10,000 dollars for the PS3. This freezes out pretty much everyone else, forces the bidder to close out his auction--only to have to re-list it because the bid was never real.

And once it's re-listed, they do it AGAIN.

That's gold.

Awwww...TFB for the them!!!! $10,000 for something no better than a X-Box. And just wait until the new Microdump box comes out....they will pull the same just in time but with limited number for X-Mas gimmick next year!!!

I am going to buy all three platforms. PS3, XBox and Wii. I don't play them tons - but when I do, I like it. I usually play the solo games. I don't have people over to my house so we can sit on bean bag chairs and drink Mt. Dew until we poop green. But when the mood strikes, it's fun to go into the TV room, naked and whack off.

I meant it's kinda fun to play when relatives ( brothers and sisters mostly ) are in town for the holidays and we have a couple cocktails and get naked and whack off.
