I've been listening to K-Hits a bit more lately and noticed that the entire disco era seems to have been expunged. I'm not saying they need to play every "More, More, More" and "I Love the Nightlife" but there are some things that do seem appropriate. How about a couple of KC and the Sunshine Band's hits, "Oh What a Night" by the Four Seasons, or "Pick Up the Pieces" by Average White Band. I mean, I can think of no other example of Scottish dance music than the AWB. Can one of you K-Hitters who frequent this booard enlighten us on this subject.

The station isn't really centered in the disco era. Until the 60s become less prominent, I don't expect to hear much disco.

The event probably exists without the radio station. Maybe, they're just the sponsor.

This radio station had such a golden opportunity to really clean up. It's soft. Too bad Minckler did not get that station. It would be top 3 right now without a question.

They were more of a white soul band than a disco one although in the 70's sometimes it was hard to tell the difference.

Sgt Pepper's didn't kill their career. It was more like taking a hiatus at the wrong time. Still, there were quite a few Gibb compositions that became hits in the early 80s.

I've heard K-Hits play some disco. Of course, we have to remember that "disco" is still a dirty word for a lot of music fan. I think if you are looking for "Boogie Nights" by Heatwave, or "Gett Off" by Foxy, you should probably check your ipod or sat radio. A criminally underplayed song IMHO is "Disco Lady" by Johnny Taylor. It's not really a disco song, but more of a soul ballad. Too bad the name scares off a lot of programmers.

>>>>Sgt Pepper's didn't kill their career. It was more like taking a hiatus at the wrong time. Still, there were quite a few Gibb compositions that became hits in the early 80s.<<<< Over-exposure & claiming they were bigger than the Beatles when the Sgt. Pepper movie came out, put them on a fast track to playlist poison. The early 80's hiatus was more because they knew their popularity was way down. They did the smart thing and let others record their music. I have to admit that it was strange hearing them sing "Island In The Stream" on a PBS concert a number of years ago.
