I think fast food is disgusting, but being on the run I tend to eat more than I would like.
Is there any item at a fast food place that you will actually admit that you like??
For me its those "chick tenders" at Burger king. I don't know whats in those things, but damn they are tasty. I also really enjoy Burgerville's Pumpkin Milkshakes. Anybody brave enough to admit that they actually like an item at a Fast Food place???

I LOVE Popeye's Chicken and Biscuits, which I think are about 2X less healthy as KFC (which is moving away from using trans fat, which will probably kill whatever taste their food had left). I think they use extra fat or something in their Popeye's biscuits - mmmm, yum, I can feel my arteries clogging now just thinking about them!!! I live within walking distances of a Popeye's in NE.

(Those of you on the west side of town: did you hear about the new Popeyes that is supposed to open at the old Jack-in-the-Box at 158th and Walker, SW corner?)

Ditto on the Orange Chicken at Happy Panda, Skep - yum! Had that yesterday in fact.

I eat Burger King or McDonalds only as a last resort (35 minute layover at an airport, the quickest thing you can grab before running to your gate). I used to like Wendy's but their fries taste like hell to me now. My fav burger places are Carl's Jr. and Jack-in-the-Box. I've tried Burgerville out of a desire to support a local chain, but their service is usualy lousy, they seem to have 2X the number of people that any other burger joint has to serve the same number of customers, their prices are high, and honestly the food isn't that much different to my tastes than anywhere else, except for certain things (e.g. those pumpkin shakes and speciality items).

McMenamins Burgers are great too if you call those fast food.

Anyone remember when they still had Boston Market restaurants in the PNW? The local franchise owner went belly up about 8 years ago when the national chain when Chapter 11, so all the Boston Market stores abruptly closed. They still operate in much of the rest of the US though. I always eat there whenever I visit family back east.

I visited the Burgerville on 185th in Aloha twice in the past month and both times my pepper baccon cheeseburger WAS Cold and the burger tasted burnt!
I usually am a fan of Burgerville, their onion rings are to die for, but i was so pissed the last time I ate their I almost went up and demanded my money back. Burgerville is awesome as long as you don't eat at the one on 185th.
If im paying 7 dollars for a combo basket, i expect a hot burger!!

I should complain, but im always a little weary of a disgruntled Burgerville employee hawlking a loogie in my burger. I worked at a Dairy Queen when I was 16, and let me tell ya, those kind of things DO happen.

Another good reason to get slices at a pizza joint: you can see them from the time they are re-heated until they are on your plate (or at least, it's a hell of a lot harder for someone to sabatoge your pizza!). I guess if you get a pie it's easier for them to do it when you can't see.

There's one particular Coffee People that makes me nervous because they make your drinks in the back, completely out of view of the patrons; who knows what they do to them back there? Every Starbucks I've ever been to has the baristas out in complete view of everyone, so it would be quite a bit harder for them to spit in your drink.

I loved eating there too! I notice some stores still have their chicken but unfortunately its all white meat which I detest. They had such wonderful dark meat and their corn and potatoes were outstanding. They still are in the east coast. I also love Burgerville as well as Arby's. I use their coupons whenever I get them in the mail. I would say a burger for $1.25 is pretty good of a deal. I love the fish Arbys has too and wish they would have it more than twice a year. I like Wendys too because I love a baked potato with my cheeseburger.

Local ownership wasn't really the problem. The company expanded too quickly. The company it's self took responsibility... I know I had some stock in the company when they started closing stores.....

Actually local (regional, PNW) ownership was the reason Boston Market went out of business here. They were getting subsidized by corporate Boston Market, but when that corporation when Chapter 11, they cut off the subsidy. I don't know why the local franchise company couldn't also go Chapter 11, but they did not. I remember when Boston Market corporate went Ch11 and I went into a local store and mentioned it to the manager. He was like, "Don't worry - we're a separately-owned franchise, we're fine!" I went on vacation for a week and when I came back, every Boston Market in Portland had shut their doors.

The corporate Boston Market did indeed expand too fast, but I have no idea why the franchise owner's finances were so shakey. May have been some hanky-panky going on? It's odd that they would shut their doors so quickly.

Meanwhile, Boston Market continued to operate in the rest of the country, eventually purchased by McDonalds. They have since shut a bunch more stores but some continue to operate many others, including a few in the area where my parents live back east.

Well, you can still go to Safeway, pick some up and microwave it...the word "blah" comes to mind.

Anybody try Del Taco lately? They seem to be the newest "it" chain, with limited northwest locations, but plans to grow quickly. (I recently tried it and was not disappointed.)

My biggest gripe about fast food is the number of orders I get hosed on.

If you are one or two people, you've a better than average chance of getting your order processed and delivered correctly. Let's say that's 90 percent.

Subract 10 percent for product variations.

Subtract 10 percent for each person ordering beyond two.

If it's late, subtract 10 percent.

Subtract 20 percent if the number of buttons they need to press is above about 8.

Basically, if you order off the menu, for yourself, you are probably good. They might forget the cheeze sometimes, but overall you are quite likely to get what you asked for.

I'm in the "they always f*ck you in the drive through" group. Having a large family and being on the run means lots of bad orders. Of course this usually means free food, but that could just come with a loogie too. You never know.

The best delivery rates for me is Mc Donalds. The absolute worst is Taco Bell. I swear on larger orders, they just grab a bunch of random food, shove it in the bag and hope you drive off!

Dog Dead tired.....Hungry as Hell......hit burgerville on way home.....

Ordered Tillamook Cheddar Pepper Bacon Cheeseburger Extra spread, Large fry, and Chocholate shake.

Drove 20 miles home.....

Sat down got comfortable and proceeded to eat.
Fries were luke warm but ok....Shake was great....but I almost puked when I bit into...."A FRACKIN GARDENBURGER".....I was Pissed....called and they said they were sorry and to come back and they would take care of it.

Naturally now I am in a hidious mood....

I had snacked on the fries and shake on the way home and back so they were near gone....threw it all in the bag and went in. Asked for the guy and he had them make a new one pronto and he also gave me a $5 coupon for my trouble. He handed me the bag and I looked inside and there was just the burger. Excuse me.....what about the fries and shake. Well they had already been eaten and we dont refill shakes. "WRONG ANSWER" Uh...no way...I ordered a meal to take home so that's what I am leaving with. Needless to say hey did not argue to much and gave me a shake and fries and another $5 coupon....double checked bag and all looked good this time. I was pretty cool when I went in but when he gave me shit about the shake and fry I got upset but not bad...kept it cool. Think he got flustered though and gave me that second certificate. I don't think the fact that I was standing there all in camoflague all muddy and gross and a huge ass knife strapped to my side had anything to do with that do you? Had been hunting all day and just had not taken it off yet.

Oh Yah....I was only one in drive through and inside only one person at counter. 50/50 and I still get shafted...now I don't care how long the drive through line is...I pull everything out and check before I pull forward....I don't care if the clock is ticking on their drive thru timer.....!!!

Yep.

And if they ever give you any crap, turn the car off. Make a big deal out of putting on the parking brake, shifting into park, etc...

Take off your seat belt, lean toward the window and let them know they already have your money. They need to earn it before collecting anyone elses, and would they please just take a moment to correct the problem, thanks!

This might get you a nice loogie, but you will get some nice speedy service every time! I prefer to not think about the loogie.

On the places with the little timer, sitting there for a coupla minutes really hoses their average. Once you turn off the motor, the wheels inside the place will start turning and turning quick.

I have lost patience with Burgerville! Yes they have good food, bUT the burgers are always cold! I can't remember the last time I have eatin a hot burger at Burgerville. At least at Mcdonalds they pretend your food is hot by warming iit up in the microwave.
I wonder If Burgerville has a complaint line?
