I want to thank all who are veterans of our beloved country for their service. Especially those who served in Vietnam. When you came home some called you names and some directed their hate for the war toward you. I personally want to say welcome home and that though I was young at the time I understood that you were just serving our country and doing as you were told like a good soldier. If you feel the same let a vietnam veteran know that you appreciate him and welcome home. After the first Gulf War I know some felt like they were forgotten because many have told me that. As for me I call all Veterans I know and always thank them on Veterans day. I hope you would do the same.

What's sad is that Veteran's Day seems to be, like so many other holidays, forgotten, looked over, ignored.

It's the veterans, of just wars and unjust military actions alike, who answered the call of duty despite any qualms or personal feelings they had, who put duty to country above duty to self, that we owe EVERYTHING to. Without these self-sacrifices, think of what might be:

-We could all be speaking German (or Japanese) as our main language.
-African-Americans and other ethnic minorities could still be enslaved, and the United States split in two.
-Hell, we could still be one giant British colony!

I could go on forever.

The point is this: All of us have a friend or relative who has fought in a foreign conflict, and whether they are alive or no longer with us we OWE them, and all their comrades in arms, our respect and admiration. All the freedoms and liberties that we have are because of these men and women. The fact that we can sit here and argue and banter with each other, and actually disagree with each other and the direction of the government without fear of persecution (or worse), is because of these folks.

Thank you, and God bless!
