I think the Republicans. The religious conservatives were already getting beat up by the Bush administration's failure to deliver all their bible thumping agenda items. The fiscal conservatives (which includes many Democrats) were already losing as a result of the spending recklessness of the Bush administration.

So, I think the Republicans, now stripped of Legislative control in both houses, have lost more as a result of the election.

The religious right is the BIG loser here, but America as a whole is the winner. It will take time to right the ship, but with some checks and balances now in place, that we've lacked the last 6 years, there's at least hope of an honest debate, rather than one party ramming everything through.

I do fear Democrats will get blamed for the mess Bush has created in the last few years but which hasn't quite become obvious yet. Iraq is obvious but the huge budget deficit barely makes news if ever. Defeated Republicans keep talking about how Pelosi and Reid will raise taxes to pay for new spending, seemingly endorsing the idea of BORROWING to pay for new spending the way they have the last six years - WTF? Why is borrowing against our grandchildren's paychecks acceptable but paying for it now is so contemptible?

Wakeup call for Joamon4sure!

The United States Dow Jones Industrial Index SOARED to a new record high after hearing America FIRED all the illegal drug-and-rough gay sex and dirty-money loving Republicans Election Day.

I made a bundle yesterday after I told my broker to BUY BUY BUY.

Actually, one could say that Rush Limbaugh personally lost the Senate for the GOP with his reaction to the Michael J. Fox ad. Had Rush not made a mockery, perhaps Talent would have held his seat?

Bingo, Reinstatepete. At very least, Talent's race would have been closer. It's amazing how seemingly innocuous, sometimes off-the-cuff, careless remarks can have such a huge impact. It now seems almost certain that had George Allen not uttered the famous "Mucacha" insult - which opened up a can of worms - he would have won Virgina and kept the Senate Republican. And Allen's quip drew so much attention that it reflected negatively on other Republicans and took valuable airtime that could have been filled by Republican spin. Rush's quip about Fox probably was less significant in the Missouri race, given that McCaskill beat Talent by 41,000 votes.

I don't hate anything or anybody these days.....ESPECIALLY not America. I am so middle of the road it ain't funny. Glad you made money on the Market....I just got mine in an aggressive 401-K...set it and forget it type of account...eggs in several baskets though. I just think that to much control in one party is not necessarily a good thing. Each Party has it's strengths and weaknesses....I just thank GOD that John Kerry was not in office when 9-11 happened. I don't think Kerry would have did the right thing and Bush and his WMD...why didn't he just say they hit us and we are going to hit em back and be done with it....no he has to prolong this to justify punching back...even though it was justified. I don't hate politicians...I just really, really, dislike the dishonesty and corruption that goes hand in hand with all of them as a whole.

Eastsideguy....I think the interest rates will go up pretty soon, They were due for it anyway, inflation just because it's such a mess right now, But the Hillary remark stands because....well because it was just funny that's all!

If this is good for the country then great so be it. It couldn't get any worse right (saying that with some trepidation)? Here's hoping for the best and a stronger nation....I Love This Country.

huh? sure he would. with the data bush had he'd zero in on bin laden and either would have him now or would still be on the hunt for him.

whatever the heck kerry (or anyone else) would do, it is far better than bush's taking americans off a cliff.

John Kerry most likely would NOT have attacked Iraq, a country that had nothing to do with us getting attacked on 9/11. Just think of all the troops that would still be alive to raise their families had we had someone other than a warmonger at the helm. I wish we had had anyone other than Bush in charge, because we would be better off today, no doubt about it. Bush's war in Iraq will go down as one of the most disasterous decisions ever made by a US President.

Regarding interest rates, the Federal Reserve has raised the Federal Funds rate by 4.25% over the last 2+ years, and it's my opinion that they are done. The Fed Funds rate now stands at 5.25%, while the benchmark 10 yr Treasury currently yields 4.62% as of today. This is what's called an inverted yield curve, which I've spoken of a few times, and when the yield curve inverts, that ususally indicates a recession is ahead, or possibly a slow down in the economy. With oil prices stablizing and a pending slowdown in the economy, that should put the brakes on any further rate increases by the Fed, and may open up the opportunity for a rate cut early to mid 2007.

Hey Skep....I never said I agreed with the entire Bush campaign and when you post a section of another it should be the whole thing:
Repeat"
"I just thank GOD that John Kerry was not in office when 9-11 happened. I don't think Kerry would have did the right thing and Bush and his WMD...why didn't he just say they hit us and we are going to hit em back and be done with it....no he has to prolong this to justify punching back...even though it was justified."

I agree with the initial attack against the terrorist camps and the military loyal to them. I cannot beleive that with this countries resources that we did not know were Bin Laden was. It should have been go in with surgical strikes to take out those before mentioned objectives and then out and let the UN take over and completely run the show after that. But Georgy missed the real target and wanted to stay so that's were WMD came from. He did not want to lose face and have people think he was not justified for staying.

Pete..your pretty sharp with those figures and are defineately more informed than I so I will take you at your word on that one.

Conservatives won in one aspect. The pork was getting out of control. Not that the dems will limit much of it, but it is a lot easier to say no to the other team, then when everybody is on the same team. i.e. no vetos when the president and congress are on the same side. The president should have vetoed a lot more of the pork that got passed.

Good point. In the sense of oversight that is exactly correct. As far as moving forward in several items in the agenda it is also correct. I think the conservatives as a whole lost a lot of power, but the entire GOP agenda has to suffer, and indeed it should.

Pork? Are you talking about the billions that went to defense and big oil courtesy of those same conservatives?

I think what people need to realize is that our budget process is completely broken. When you spend more than what you collect, something needs to change. Either billions upon billions get cut, or more money needs to be collected in the form of taxes. The three biggest budget items are Social Security, Medicare, and defense, and I'll take a wild guess that nobody wants to cut any of those programs. So, the only other option is taxes must go up. The current practice of just piling up the debt on a credit card has to end, or we all end up paying much more down the road.

Victory for Iran? Are you kidding? What American president in the last 50 years has done so much for Iran as George W. Bush? Shoot, he took out hated regimes on both sides of Iran: both Saddam Hussein and the Taliban were mortal enemies of Iran. In addition, by adding Iran to the "Axis of Evil," Bush gave their leader an excuse to rally around him and consolidate his domestic power.

The Iranian leadership must be greatly disappointed at the defeat of the man who has done so much for them, the best Republican since Ronald Reagan, who sold them weapons, cut and ran when our embassy and Marine barracks were blown up by the Iranian-backed terrorists in Beirut, and negotiated for hostages taken there.

The terrorists (al Qaeda and foreign jihadists) in Iraq definitely want America to stay in Iraq, so they can continue to attack us there. They are looking for every opportunity to humiliate and attack America, no matter which party is in charge. They would love it if Bush could stay in office indefinitely. But they will cheer any preceived United States defeat.

On the other hand, the Iraqi insurgents (not to be confused with the foreign terrorists) simply want America to get the hell out - and if they think a Democratic president would pull American troops out, they would obviously hope for a Democratic president. This is common sense, right?

Trix - he just doesn't get it. Those of us who are registered Republicans with a brain .. and AREN'T afraid to use it ... are just sore-loser liberals, bleeding hearts who simply want to do nothing more than make every single sin available legal, the terrorists to win, for Christians to all be burned at the stake ... you get the drill. Since we're not a conservative in the mold of Wayne and his ilk, we are LIBERALS! It's like we are lepers, or AIDS patients, or something. Y'know, things the Christians want to shove under the rug, into the closet.

Oh, and as far as the Republicans being voted out "liberals" ... Rick Santorum is HARDLY liberal. In fact he might have been the most conservative member of the Senate ... and George Allen wasn't far behind. Yeah, a bastion of liberals there.

Wayne is just trying to spin it to look good for the far-right. I don't know about you Trixter, but I welcome the Democratic takeover. It will force the GOP to move to the center a bit more and get away from this caveman mentality that has been too invasive. Maybe it will produce more John McCains and George H.W. Bushes and less Dubyas and Cheneys and ... well, Waynes.

Of course Iran wants Americans to go home, not stay indefinitely. They are thrilled that America and Bush knocked over Saddam Hussein for them, but like a dinner guest who has long overstayed his welcome, they want the US to get out. Any humiliation of the man who called them part of the "Axis of Evil" would be celebrated in Iran, despite the great things Bush has done for them.

It's al Qaeda that wants the US to stay put and continue to be targets and a big recruiting draw.
