Herb, where oh where are you buddy? Are you digging the election results? I thought Democrats can't win elections? This is a GREAT day for all Americans. Checks and balances will be restored, and hopefully we will have more accountabilty. Looking at the scorecard, I'm VERY pleased with the results, both locally, and nationally, and I'm proud to say that I stand in the mainstream of Americans.

Locally:

Saxton DEFEATED
Term limits DEFEATED
Abortion restrictions DEFEATED
Spending limits (both) DEFEATED
Mike Erickson DEFEATED
Judges being elected by district DEFEATED
Banning credit scores for insurance DEFEATED
Term limits DEFEATED
Oregon Senate DEMOCRAT CONTROLLED
Oregon House TIED or DEMOCRAT CONTROLLED

Nationally:

Rumsfield GONE
House DEMOCRAT CONTROLLED 234-201
Senate DEMOCRAT CONTROLLED 51-49
George Allen DEFEATED
Rick Santorum DEFEATED
Ken Blackwell DEFEATED
Katherine Harris DEFEATED
28 states now have a DEMOCRAT GOVERNOR

So, it looks to me the religious right got their ASSES beat! So much for Bush appointing any more extremists on the Supreme Court. Can you say House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Hillary Clinton??

I am a happy camper today boyeeeee!!!

Ken Blackwell may be the sweetest victory of all. I'll have to call my aunt back in Columbus today - she will likely be overjoyed as well.

But getting rid of Rumsfeld is undoubtedly some of the best news of the last 24 hours!!!!!

I still have hope that Karen Minnis will be defeated as well. She is the most cancerous person in Oregon politics.

I hope Minnis loses too but at very least if Dems can get control of the House, she'll be irrelevant. If the House is tied, I don't see how she could be elected speaker again.

I still don't know whether or not the dems truly know how to win elections, but thanks to Uncurious George, the republicans sure know how lose 'em.

Bob Pamplin will have to find a new girlfriend now that Minnis is no longer speaker.

In Pennsylvania, in the 8th district (suburban Philly) where my parents live, I talked to my mom Monday and she said they probably weren't going to vote - they hadn't followed politics lately. I begged them to go down and vote for Patrick Murphy, the Iraq war vet running for the Democrats. Tuesday my Mom called and said, "OK, *WHO* are we supposed to vote for again???" "MURPHY! MURPHY!!!" OK. My step-father said he could remember that because a "murphy" is a nickname for a toilet - well, whatever it takes to remember!

As of now Murphy is up in that race by 1,000 votes out of 250,000 or so cast - and it . Of course one seat isn't crucial anymore to the House majority but it would still be cool to have one more seat!

This a a CLEAR victory for not only SANE people but all of us TRUE Republicans that neoCONism doesn't work! The PEOPLE of the United States have spoken......
The TRUE Republicans and Dems can work together without be silenced in the House or the Senate like in years past.
Think what you want about McCain I think he will have the Olive branch.....
Clearly the United States of American won last night!

I've been in a class all day for the last 6 days, so I've missed a lot of the last cat fights around here, but needless to say I am quite pleased with the results.

I am hoping, like many of you, that maybe now something sane will be done about foreign and domestic issues gone wild.

We now return to our regularly scheduled programming, already in progress ...

It's all over for Wayne, Herb, Deane, Mc74, and the other part-timers that drop in here.
Now the real work begins. Now the rebuilding of the United States starts with the first brick.

Now the Democrats get our chance to show what we can do.

This will be fun. And, good for America.

Looks like Minnis the Menace is still in, but as Andrew2 called it, she will probably be irrelevant.
