Keeps going on and off the air while I'm listening to the Blazer game tonight. |

When KXL signs off, I can hear the Utah Jazz on what I'm guessing is KOAL. |

Yep, KOAL for sure, heard an ID. Thanks for the "heads up" ... had not logged KOAL before. |

I noticed it too ... I thought it was my car radio for a second. I would tune back into the game, listen for two minutes, then I am getting other audio. |

Actually not really, I was tuning around a bit during one of the times that kxl was off. This is 20yr old approx analog knob tuned slide rule dial radio (with digital clock). I never tried to modify it. But KCBS came in better than I expected being that I thought they send most power south. |

Before KXL was on at night, I use to receive WSB out of Atlanta, GA. |

I remember being quite surprised the first time I saw KCBS' night pattern because they put such a good signal into Portland. This was while KXL was a daytimer of course. As I recall they were never quite as strong as KNBR or KGO, but much better than I would expect judging from their pattern. |

They still put a decent signal into the Portland area. I am west of Portland (about 20 miles from the KXL towers) and can hear it just fine at night on a GE srIII. |

It tends to fade more than KGO or KNBR but never really goes away. |

Looking at KCBS's night pattern at http://www.fccinfo.com , they have a slight lobe towards us. |

I can hear KOAL under KXL here in Vancouver at night. Driving back from Corvallis one evening, KOAL was almost overpowering KXL even up into Salem. I'm surprised KXL doesn't complain about this. |

Perhaps Craig Adams or someone else explained part of that, I think it was explined in the fishwrapper at the time KXL went full time or up'ed the night power 198?. There was some debate about who got "rights" to 750 at night (KXL vs. Utah). I think they made agreement to share so both could get on, as long as neither sent power towards Atlanta. |

KXL was a limited time station, ONLY protecting WSB. How could a newcomer possibly have better rights? |
