On todays drive I was listening to KGON and heard some of Steve Martins stand up comedy from the 80's. I just wonder if that was a teaser to see if there was any interest in that sort of thing or if it was just a one-time fluke? If it was something other than a fluke I think that doing 3 or 4 minutes from different comics of that era like "Cheech and Chong" "Steve Martin" "The SNL Classics" "Bill Cosby" "Gallagher" "Carlin" "Robin Williams" etc. etc. would be a really good thing. Think you could not go wrong with a little comedy here and there. If it was just a one shot then maybe consider trying it a little and test the response. Just offering my two cents...got change for a twenty!

no, sorry, it's just a fluke. I have been told on may occasions that there is no place for that on a music station! Obviously that was a mistake and the responsible party will be soon fired........

I remember that Max used to run brief bits by All Comedy Radio....does anyone know if this is a little remainder of their affiliation with that dying (or dead..I really don't know) network?

Actually, 970 AM Solid State Radio was, for a period, "All Comedy Radio." They played almost esclusively the ACR network feed from LA. It was pretty stale, as they had a fairly limited playlist, but the 5-10 minute interviews on "Comedy Island" were awesome. Paul Mooney is so underrated - even if he is half as funny as he says he is, he is the king.

Well I know that. But they were mostly ACR for a year or so. I'm pretty sure that Max played little blurbs. Like 2:00 features in the middle of the spot break.

Paul Mooney IS that funny. I highly suggest you check out some of his comedy albums. I had a friend loan me a tape of his back in 8th or 9th grade and was floored by how slick he was.

Radio is supposed to be entertaining? I just tune in for the commercials and they keep playing music all of the time.

It is more of foot race from the brink if you work in it. I honestly feel like radio is hoping on gimmicks, formulas, and consultants and tossing talent out the window for the future.
