From All Access yesterday: EMF Broadcasting launched its 200th radio station in Scranton PA this month, making EMF the largest Contemporary Christian music broadcaster in the world. The combined listening audience of EMF's Christian AC K-LOVE and Christian CHR AIR-1 radio networks now top 4.1 million listeners each week according to Arbitron, another 225,000 weekly online streaming listeners (as reported by Webmetrics). In addition to the 200 radio stations, K-LOVE and AIR-1 also operate a group of 180 FM transmitters in 44 States.

Locally EMF operates KLVP 88.7MHz & KZRI 90.3MHz which are also heard on local translators.

And BOTH K-LOVE and Air 1 were started by "Bob Anthony" Fogal, the legendary 62 KGW personality who lived for many years in Columbia County but moved this past year to California. Both networks had very humble beginnings but have grown into major operations.

Bob is very much an "idea man" -- his latest project being "Gospel Spots" (www.gospelspots.com), a Christian outreach through billboards, TV and radio spots and on cinema screens.

Bob is simply a very talented man. The growth of these formats have been slow but steady.

The Christian music industry is formidable as well, boasting sales in many areas over a billion dollars annually.

I have always wondered how much do they generate from donations for the stations or underwriters?

In 2004 Educational Media Foundation took in just under 50 million dollars in direct public support.

In comparison, OPB brought in just over 15 mil in direct public support in 2005, an additional 315-thousand from government grants, and over 12.2 million in program service revenue.

I'm impressed that no one has chimed in on this thread with some religous bashing. I actually expected someone to.

The lack of religious bashing is probably because it's so easy .shooting fish in a barrel.

"Saying he was a "deceiver and liar" who had given into his dark side, the Rev. Ted Haggard confessed to sexual immorality Sunday in a letter read from the pulpit of the megachurch he founded"

cut and paste, all you need to do.

And if you want to smell the stench of more right wing hypocrisy, just tune in that cesspit KTRO.

I just checked out EMF's operation on the web. Very smart!

Nationally networked med-low power FM only channels through out the country. No AM at all.

Not commercial but if it was, very nice.

They had 1040 until just recently. I didn't realize it was the only one!
