It's in an old Towers & Such thread. They've had it for quite awhile. |

What's causing the hold up? |

In Eugene, 107.5 KVMX currently sounds noticably weaker than 106.7 KLTH. It'll be nice to have "Movin" up to 100kW! |

Except this will likely be a factor: |

Why doesn't EMF use a booster on 107.1, instead of a translator at 107.3? Who does their engineering? This new translator will splatter over 107.5 KVMX, but it shouldn't cause too much interference. |

This would seem to be a viable solution! Eugene appears to be within their 60dbu contour. It would certainly make better use of the spectrum. |

They actually ran a 250 watt booster on Blanton Heights for a few months back in '97. In south Eugene where the main 107.1 is worst it worked wonders. However, in portions of Springfield and northwest Eugene where the main signal is good enough alone the booster caused major interference. For south Eugene they went with a 100.9 translator instead. |

How about a 107.1 booster on KODZ's tower? That site would cover all of Eugene/Springfield, and cover up the main signal. |

I'm no engineer, but I'm guessing less than 250 watts from Coburg Ridge (KODZ) would go beyond the 60 dBu of the main signal. The amount of power required to "cover up" the main signal would need to be more than 250 watts. Therefore the only legal option appears to be a southern location (Blanton) directional towards the north. I don't know why they didn't or couldn't use a higher powered booster on Blanton. |

Good points about Coburg Ridge. I like the idea of a directional booster on Blanton... |
