For the past year, KIJZ has identified themselves as simply "Smooth Jazz 105.9"...which sounds rather boring and forgettable. KIJZ should be used for more than legal ID's and website promos. Why don't they start calling themselves "Smooth Jazz 105.9 KIJZ"? They have good "jazz" calls, so why not use them? The old "Smooth Jazz 106.7 KKJZ" used their calls, and now it's time for 105.9 to get with it!

KIJZ is clumsy. IMHO, does not add significant value to the overall identity like KKJZ did.

Sorry. They are better off without those calls.

I've got to read them twice. I see KJIZ every time and that's not good...

KIJZ rolls off the tongue quite easily, doesn't it?

Does not pack the punch KKJZ does. Comes off easy enough, don't get me wrong there.

Overall, it's dimunitive, non assertive. Just crappy calls, IMHO.

Well, some might say that "boring and forgettable" is a perfect description of the station and their playlist... :-)

Also there's the vaguely inappropriate sound of the calls if you mishear them as KJIZ.

You might have to turn in your radio "expert" credentials on this on.

Those calls are weak. It is obvious to any real radio expert why they are not using them.

Okay, then explain why Seattle's 98.9 KWJZ uses their calls.

With apologies to Bill Clinton, "It depends on what the meaning of the word [JIZ] is."

I don't think they were thinking when they named this station.... The "I" has to go or people will always think of it as the "JIZ"....
