The WB and UPN will cease broadcasting, combine forces and become the CW, for CBS/Warner. Local affiliate will be what is now KWBP. KPDX will pick up Rupert Murdoch's new My Network TV at about the same time. Don't feel bad; I didn't know anything about NBC Sunday Night Football that's about to begin.

Ratings?

Put all of 'em in a room and don't let anyone out for 24 hours. Don't put enough mics in the room for everybody to have their own.

I've an idea for this guide site. Rather than just produce a listing, why not invite reviews! It's gonna be messy, but might add some value. That also gives people a reason to come back. Portland talk does not change enough to keep repeat visitors coming back.

Seriously, once somebody looks the guide over, they are done. By the time they really need it again --if they do because the stations announce their changes often enough to let people track comings and goings, there is a solid chance they have forgotten or have found another source.

Yeah, PAC is just the latest to get into a pissing match with O'Reilly. When are these yahoos going to learn they are only playing into O'Reilly's hand. This is exactly what he wants. If they'd ignore the a-hole he'd dry up and blow away.

Of course, maybe this is what PAC wnats too. He has been feuding with the O over his blogs. A little publicty can't hurt Carlin in the search for his next gig.

Of course PAC wants to try to bait O'reilly into paying attention to him. How else to elevate a modest talent into someone who can pretend to be a player?

That column by PAC was so transparently "all about PAC" that it made me laugh.

Oh, gee, the media gossip columnist from the 24th market is in a feud with Bill O'Reilly!?!? News at 11!

Pathetic

Speaking of O'Lielly, I was watching the "E True Hollywood Story" on Jenna Jameson the other night, and she was talking about when she was invited on the O'Lielly Factor. She said that after the segment was over, O'Lielly told her that he'd never seen any of her movies and asked her if she'd send him some. So as a typcial hypocrite does, he rails against porno on tape, but when the tape stops rolling, he's asking about getting a Jenna Jameson porn flick! Gotta love O'Lielly!

She said it right on TV in the interview, so I'll trust that she's not making it up. Otherwise, it would be real easy for O'Lielly to come back and deny it. So far, I haven't seen a denial from O'Lielly. Not that I care though, I think Jenna's hot and so are her vids. She's famous for a reason. My problem is when people demonize something, then turn around in private and do it themselves.

Willamette Week, best of 2006

Best Radio Station (AM)

"KBPS/KPSU 1450 AM Look out, Lars! Our readers are listening to the kids. High school by day and college by night, 1450 AM is your favorite station for amplitude-modulated tunes. KPOJ 620 AM , home of liberal heartthrob Thom Hartmann, came in a close second.

"Best Radio Station (FM)

KOPB 91.5 FM You say Kristian Foden-Vencil and the other public-radio mavens at KOPB are back on top of the Portland radio heap this year, and the ratings prove you right. Though no longer the dominant force it was last year, the made-over KNRK 94.7 FM still came in a solid second. (opb.org)"

So, would this Greenstone company distribute its women's talk format to AM stations, and is the idea really new? I remember that until Rush Limbaugh got popular, a lot of talk radio dealt with these types of "lifestyles" topics.

Regarding the R&R article, I am not the least bit surprised that there would be people calling for even more consolidation of the industry. I think that there's a good chance that this will happen. Will the overall quality of the programming improve as a result? Probably not.
