I'm guessing Deane might be. He is a corporatist, and this is very anti-corporatist.

Oooops. Sounds like a tax increase to me.

From what I heard on the news, it does not apply just to corporations. It is all off shore tax havens.

The rich and the corporations will just find some other way to "hide" their money.

Smoke and mirrors.

Well, they need to at least be forced to work hard to do so.

Working to get corporations and the very wealthy to pay their share isn't a tax increase. It's a check and balance, just the way it is supposed to work.

...and for you, it's likely a tax decrease!

Obama was quite clear about working to fix these kinds of things. He got my vote, for that among many reasons.

Thank God the rich can move to that other country with ultra-low tax rates for the wealthy and enjoy life free of corporate restrictions.

Now if I could only only remember the name of that strong and powerful paradise for the rich . . .

Anybody?

A name?

I'm all for sticking it to the people that play above the tax law and hide millions overseas.

I've never understood why we wanted to provide favorable tax strategies for companies to go off-shore. This is one issue I'm siding with Obama on. Off-shore should carry some sort of penalties for companies, not benefits.

I'm certainly not for isolationism, but we certainly don't need to provide them a tail wind.

I am too, but these are legal tax shelters.

I almost took a job in 1992 building the cell system in Ghana. I could have put my entire salary in ANY bank in the world and not paid any income tax on it. I would have remained a US Citizen and it would have been perfectly legal.

Actually in looking back, it would have been a very smart financial move!

Is somebody who lives in the United States, and enjoys all the rights and privledges that the United States provides them,
but does not contribute by paying their share of taxes, any less of a freeloader than someone who refuses to work,
but collects their welfare & foodstamps?

Legal tax shelters that are abuses should be made illegal. As a US citizen, you should not be able to skip out on paying income tax on your salary just because you're overseas working for it.
