Why are libs to eager to lap this stuff up. It would appear you enjoy being had.

$100 million is more than Bush saved. You really are desperate to attack Obama, you even have to twist around positive actions.

Deane, get a real life.

Says who? When candidate John McCain spoke before the AP they presented him with coffee and his favorite donuts. When Obama spoke later, he was introduced as Osama with no coffee and donuts.

I'll admit the $100 million is not all that much considering the budget. I didn't need you or the AP to tell me that.

If you were spending $60,000 per year and decided to cut back the same percentage, it would be $6.

Hardly fodder for a big announcement unless you wanted to distract people from all of the spending increases you were contemplating.

Who was it who said "you can fool some of the people some of the time but not all of the people all the time." In this case "some" = "libs" in the equation.

This is getting so tired...

We get it. You don't like Obama. You look for stuff to post every day. You don't like what he's doing.

Gotcha. Now go outside and shuck some corn or something.

And quit saying "libs". You just sound ridiculous.

Deane, we can't blame you, in your blind partisanship, for missing the point; what's surprising is a couple of AP writers were so dumb that they too missed Obama's point, which was to set an example for federal agencies that they have to start watching their pennies a bit closer with the people's money. No one really believed $100M was much money overall - why would the AP writers think so?

As for you, Deane, you're showing just another example of your partisan hypocrisy. You used to crow about how awful those federal earmarks were - no? Yet they were only like 1% of the federal budget bills. And now you think $100M is no big deal so why are people worried about it? Oh, that's right: needed a reason to bash Obama today. Who cares about showing yourself as a big hypocrite, huh?

Deane's posts haven't been worth reading for quite sometime now. Deane, this is why you party is no longer in power. You have nothing new to offer, just more of how Obama is screwing up the country and give more power to the rich, the same ol shit.

"We get it. You don't like Obama"

Why would you confuse "not liking Obama" with not falling for some of his smoke screen.

Actually, I sort of like the guy and wish he were a Conservative.

Fact of the matter is, you can't defend his actions, so you're going to try and shift the focus to me. I knew that before I typed the first character in this thread.

I suspect you libs will continue to get more and more tense as you realize what you see is not what you got. To divert attention away from what's really beginning to eat at you, you'll get more and more viscous towards me because I was the first to call bullshit.

Deane, it looks like you need to up your prune juice intake, as you're the only one who's "tense" about Obama.

As a voter and early supporter, I'm thrilled with the success Obama has had early on and look forward to more success so we can see just how tense you'll get. Becasue we all know you're rooting for him to fail.

And as for Obama being a conservative, well, he's just too intelligent and informed to be one.

Let's see now, if I'm right about Obama's phoney intentions and Obama is heading the country toward socialism, the first thing he'll do is try to convert the bailout loans to bank equity. Let's sit back and watch what happens.

As explained on NewsHour tonight:

RAY SUAREZ: Is that how it buys the administration some time in not having to go back to Congress for more money?

BINYAMIN APPELBAUM: That's right. If I've given you $100 and told you that I want you to pay me $50 in return and then I tell you, you don't even need to bother giving me that $50, I've effectively given you another $50 and delayed the day when I need to make you an additional loan.

Here's what I find funny;

Saving a hundred million here is a good thing(according to the liberals).

When I suggested all the waste in the earmarks in the handout bailout all I heard was oh, that's such a drop in the bucket it doesn't make any difference even though it totaled much, much more than a hundred million.

Just goes to show that whatever lord Obama says is gospel (to the liberals), whether it makes any difference or not. They will put their spin on it and don't you dare say anything against their savior of the world.

True bumper sticker I saw today in downtown Portland "Obama. It's what happens when the uninformed vote" Just sayin.....

Bill, I think you are a bit confused. Earmarks are a congressional process, controlled by numerous committee chairman. And more earmarks were requested by Republican Senators than Democratic Senators, even though Republican pundits made such a big stink about it in the first place. (And Republicans lied about Obama's campaign pledge to reform earmarks - he never said he'd veto ANY bill with earmarks, only that he'd reform them.)

The Executive Branch reports to one person, the President, who is instructing his cabinet officers to cut spending by $100 Million. He as one leader can do that. No "liberal" is claiming the amount Obama requested is a lot of money, only that it's a message to the government that even small amounts of tax money spent are important. It's largely symbolic but it sends a message: you can't spend whatever you want, and you are going to have to start thinking more as a fiscal conservative.

I am having trouble understanding how Republicans were upset about the earmarks their own party's Senators were eagerly requesting while dismissing Obama's attempt to instruct his departments to start saving some money as insignificant. Help me understand how this isn't just partisan hypocrisy?

Bill, do you think Obama was wrong to instruct the government departments to start saving money? Or should he have told them to spend as much money as they wished? Did Bush ever ask his cabinet officers to cut their budgets by even a tiny bit during the boom times when it would have been a lot easier than it is now?

Bill, do you think Obama was wrong to instruct the government departments to start saving money?

Absolutely not. I think it's great. You have to start small, and start somewhere.

However, saving money is saving money. It doesn't matter whether it comes from government departments or from earmarks.

Savings are savings.

He just as easily could have instructed Congress to not include any earmarks in any legislation that was sent to him. But he knows if he does that there will be a lot of supporters who are pissed because they didn't get what was promised to them when they made their "contributions".

As I stated above, the part I find humorous is that some people are making a big deal out of this when it is peanuts compared to other spending.

It's a start. Now they need to get serious and cut, cut, cut.

Edit:
I am having trouble understanding how Republicans were upset about the earmarks their own party's Senators were eagerly requesting while dismissing Obama's attempt to instruct his departments to start saving some money as insignificant. Help me understand how this isn't just partisan hypocrisy?

I don't care which side of the isle the earmark came/comes from. There should be NONE. All they are is bribery pay offs.

Tense? Not hardly.

I'm thrilled and happy we finally have a president who is TRYING. Who is DOING SOMETHING. Who is working WITH people instead of against them. Who is attempting DIPLOMACY instead of sabre rattling.

And Deane, since I can tell by your posts all you want is reaction, not discussion, I will go back to passivity as regards to you.

Maybe President Obama doesn't like donuts. Did anybody ask him? Maybe MC-Cain was supposed to share his donuts, but those Palin kids ate them all. Maybe MC-Cain sent some donuts over to Obama, but Bill Clinton found them first.

I heard Obama prefers Kobe Beef.

Would MSNBC offer Boosh or Cheney donuts?

Can't they all get together and share them?

Let's send a box of Donuts to congress and they can share them over good conversation. Nothing like a box of donuts to bring everyone together.

Life can be so simple.

Some of you just like to pull each others hair. It's like being in a car on a long trip with a bunch of kids

Fearing change of direction is human. Deane doesn't agree with new policies that are contrary to his life's experience. Today's report that TARP is just another pro big business boondoggle doesn't make me happy, either. But remember the proverbs of King Solomon:

Do not accuse a man for no reason - when he has done you no harm.

At least Obama is doing something. Bush did as close to nothing as is scientifically measurable. The Republican Congress sank this economy by letting Wall Street run wild. Every other reason is traceable to that fact. The rest is just a smokescreen.
