Obama Administration Maintains Bush Legal Argument for Terrorist Surveillance Secrecy

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/first100days/2009/04/13/obama-administration-uph olds-terrorist-surveillance-secrecy-rules/

Uh oh. Obama is keeping a Bush policy.

What is the man thinking? Got to get rid of everything Bush...Oh man, what are we gooing to do now????

Best of all the article says "President Obama's most liberal supporters say they are dismayed and disgusted because this administration is invoking the "state secrets" privilege"

An Obama Button: $5 on Visa

An Obama camapign Donation: $100 on Visa

Obama pissing off his most liberal supporters: F'ing EXCELLENT!!!

This article is worthy perhaps of the New York Post. First of all, who exactly determined who Obama's "most liberal supporters" are??? Jane Hamsher of a group called "Accountability Now" and Kevin Bankston from the Electronic Frontier Foundation are his "most liberal supporters?" How on earth did Fox News determine that? Who came in 3rd, 4th, and 5th "most liberal?"

And when did they go on the record as supporting him over, say Dennis Kucinich? For many people choosing Obama over McCain was a complete no-brainer; that doesn't mean they love everything about Obama.

I think the article is more red meat for Fox News's audience than anything else.

Please note the article has no byline. :-(

Down at the bottom of the article is this: "FOX News' Jim Angle contributed to this report."

I guess that's as close to a byline as possible.

Both Republicans and Democrats are big money operations, getting it from virtually the same places.

IMO, the Democratic party is the new "business" party, they'll slap tons of regulations on stuff in the name of "going green," only so big-money operations have the dough to continue to say stuff like "organic," "rbst-free," "contains recycled content," and a bunch of other stuff.

I hate to say it, but the military-industrial complex is huge and not going anywhere. They'll get their interests pushed through no matter what.

This is hardly the kind of thing I wanted when I voted for Obama. But I tell you what, if it makes those on the right happy in keeping this policy - and by the phrasing of the post by Skybill, it seems that it does - then I can eat that one for now.

Now, if I was on the right, I would see this as compromise that I should be happy about, right? Sure, it makes some on the left unhappy. But so be it. I'm ok with not being happy about everything all day every day.

That's what I said I wanted to have happen. Here it is.

For now.

The fact this thread was started by a troll just made me decide to ignore the topic for now and hope for the best. Now if a rational thinking person started this tread, perhaps I'd give the matter some thought.

...and by the phrasing of the post by Skybill...

CJ, I don't much care either way if he keeps it or not. It doesn't make any difference to me.

I'm just thrilled that it pissed off some liberals. That in and of itself makes me happy!

Mostly because I don't care for what the liberals stand for.

That and the fact that it seems most of the liberals have put lord Obama so far up on a pedestal and take everything he says as the absolute truth and that he could NEVER be wrong.

Along with the fact that they spout that everything Bush did was wrong, it just tickles me to see this kind of thing happen!

I'm going to crash! We can pick it up again in the AM.

G'night!

Andrew is correct: Red meat for the Fox News base. Lord knows they need something to chew on with all the success Obama is having.

A small thing ...I noticed the other day..

Obama got off the Helicopter on the White House lawn. It was the day or so before the end of the Pirate crisis. He got off the copter and snapped a smart salute to the Major standing guard at the bottom of the ramp. Smart looking salute for a man never in the military himself. And it was in sharp contrast to what he did right after taking office in January/February. Back then he 'wasnt' saluting those Marines.

Seems like there 'is' a learning curve at work here.
