I am so FREAKIN mad at that place I want to scream! I've posted about the problems I've had with 24 hour Fitness, and now its time for another post. The equipment is so dirty, why are they not doing a better job at keeping the equipment clean? Last time I posted, I told you about the warts I was getting on the palm of my hand, from using their dirty equipment. To solve that, I went out and bought a pair of those work-out gloves that sheild the palms of your hands. So I thought my problem was solved Right?? NO WAY! Now I'm starting to get warts on the tips of my fingers from the bench press bar! GRRRRRR I'm so sick and tired of getting warts from that dirty a$$ gym. I didn't wear water socks ONE DAY while at the gym and I got a major case of athletes foot. I woke up the next morning and my feet burned and itched so bad i wanted to cry! I'm not sure what more I can do, this is ABSOLUTELY ridiculous that a gym is not more sanitary. I've never had a wart IN MY ENTIRE LIFE until I started working out at 24 hour fitness. SO the other day I went to Costco and got a huge container of that Purell Hand sanitizer, to put on my hands after I work out. Hopefully that does the trick because this is SERIOUSLY PISSING ME OFF!! I wish there was a number I could call and complain about this. Management over at 24 hour don't give a rats A$$ about this and don't believe me when I have complained in the past. I WOULD NEVER RECOMEND THAT GYM TO ANYONE!

pay the extra couple of bucks a month and go one tier higher on the Athletic Club ladder. Simple as that. Do your homework ahead of time when shopping for a new gym.

All locations are not the same. Which one are you complaining about? If you don't like it there, go to a different club. Are you the only one getting these problems or are others also getting them?

Justin, just go somewhere else. Deprive them of your money. It's the American way.

Been working out at 24 Hour Fitness for years with no problems. I also use those palm covering gloves. I will workout at my neighborhood community center too, again with no problems. I am a big time hand washer after I work out or been shopping or just being outside. Justin your immune system might a bit weak too. Lots of ways to strengthen it. Of course changing gyms is a valid option too. Or if you have the room an in-home gym might be a good way to go. BTW-Lavender is a natural antiseptic. We make our own spray for the house.

Hey Deane, I would love to drop 24 Hour fitness but the problem is I spent $600 dollars for a 3 year plan(than every other year after the initial 3 years its only 100 dollars for life. The money is non refundable so I can't get my money back. I've been to 2 24 hour fitnesses. Actually 3 if you count the Pearl district 24 hour.(Thats the one where I spotted a guy doing arm curls with a bandage on his elbow that was falling off. UGH! Chris, A home gym is another option but I don't have the money to go out and buy a huge home gym set, PLUS If im going to be working out and getting a nice bod(I want to show it off) I just bought a couple of muscle shirts and a few tank tops. Im also starting to buy clothes in smaller sizes so they fit me tighter. Hello summer and HELLO LADIES! But lets be honest the main reason I'm working out is to improve my health, (and getting laid would also be nice )

Justin, are you still using the Hollywood location? Last time you talked about this, I posted about a nasty skin fungus my workout partner got at the same location. We got the Lysol wipes from Costco, and got religious about using them, before and after using any equipment, and never forgot our towels! Then we canceled our membership at renewal time because they would not address the multiple issues at that location, including people wearing their filthy street clothes on the floor and not having personal towels with them at all times, and kids f'n around in the pool area unsupervised. All clearly defined in the contract as "compliance is manditory". There was also a rash of locker break ins. That location really needs new management.

My girlfriend is bugging me to go to this 24 Hour Fitness (guessing one at another part of town). I didn't like the idea before, now I know for a fact my answer is going to be no!

Maggots dining on the dead skin flakes building up in the corners of weight training equipment will turn even people like Grissom away from these places.

Don't do it Newflyer, 24 hour SUCKS BIG TIME! I have not a single thing positive to say about that place. Oh and did I mention the staff, well mostly management are ass holes. DONT give them your money, they desperately need your money more than ever. With the economy down the shitter, and every one losing their job, gym memberships are the first thing people are cutting to save costs.

Justin...I have never been treated poorly at 24 Hour Fitness. I've been a member over 10 years and I can't think of any run in or bad customer service I've experienced.

I have a bunch of friends who go to 24 hour fitness; one of them teaches group exercise classes there part time. No one has anything bad to say about the place except that they are often very busy and sometimes crowded when they want to work out. I go to Bally Total Fitness, which I can recommend if anything for the group exercise classes. I have several awesome instructors - the only reason I would stay at Bally, really, because otherwise it's just an average gym. If my instructors ever leave I'm gone.

Maybe tools for management are the norm rather than the exception in the field. I have a vendor pass for a gym in Coeur d'Alene, it just opened (the deal is, I keep their leads box in my store, in return I get a free membership). A good friend of mine signed up for a membership there ... she had a run-in with the owner of the place about two months ago about something that one of his employees came and said to her, push came to shove, and he told my friend that if she didn't like what he had to say, he could just revoke her membership on the spot and return her money. She hasn't been back since ... and if my membership wasn't free, no way I'd go. I briefly went to the 24 Hour Fitness in Mall 205, and other than them being so pushy about selling their services (which is their job), I didn't have any issues.

FYI, hand sanitizer is useless against virii (and warts are caused by virii). Personally I think gym memberships are one of the bigger scams going. Get someone to sign up for a long contract and then wait for them to get bored/tired/burned out/lazy. If even a small fraction of the members actually turned up, the place would be packed wall-to-wall.

Tadc- Whenever I'm at 24 Hour Fitness (outside of the 11pm-6am hours) it's pretty full. Was driving by the Hollywood District 24 Hour last night around 9:45pm and it was packed. Having been a member over 10 years my monthly dues are $22.

Personally I think gym memberships are one of the bigger scams going. I think there's a bigger scam with Kung Fu school memberships, but that's another thread.

24 Hour Fitness Sucks Big time! After I cancelled my membership, they continued to pull money out of my bank account each month. Finally after telling them 3 different times to stop pulling money out of my account I had to have my bank block them. And by the way, channel 8 news did a story on 24 hour Fitness a few years back and the story was not pretty. E-choli and Salmonella found on the blue mats, (I kid you not) The gym is a walking Virus.
