In Nov. 2007, Jim Derck, a good friend of mine died of cancer. While usually pretty closed-mouthed about the details of his past, he indicated to me that he had worked at KISN, circa 1968-72 after a stint in Vietnam, part of the time as an on-air personality. I know that he worked as Gary Bonnert (sp?) at one point, and said he was one of several who used the Roger W Morgan imprint as well. If there is anyone out there who remembers him, or can fill in any details, it would be appreciated. Just trying to find out more about a valued friend. Thanks.

Found the Bonnert info in an illustration of the KISN Top 30 weekly handout/flyer, with a photo, name and 7-11pm on the cover. Showed it to a few folks who swear it is Derck. Like all research work, I'm afraid at this point what I don't know is far more than what I know.

Just went through a website with a very long list of Top 30 surveys to try and find the one in question. Turns out I was off on the approximate dates. Survey was for August 19, 1975. On-air times 7pm - midnight. He may have worked there earlier, but that is the date for which I have verification.

Spelling seems to be correct. Particular reader used to display was difficult to copy. Finally got enlargement. Turns out its "Gary Rohnert." Couldn't insert picture, but here's a link--

Actually, "Jerry Rohnert," who is on the list. Sorry, I got a little excited when I actually found a better picture. I've been looking for this stuff for a couple of months, and have been lucky to find more today than in the rest of my time.
I should have figured this board was lucky.

Still, if anyone remembers him or knows any details of his time at KISN, I'd appreciate it.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burton_Richardson sez:

"Burton Richardson (born September 25, 1949, in Portland, Oregon) is an American television announcer. He announced The Arsenio Hall Show from 1989 to 1994, where he became known for his long-drawn-out introduction of the show's host: 'ARSENIOOOOOOO... HALL!' Richardson has also announced various game shows, including Rodeo Drive, Russian Roulette, WinTuition, the 1990 and 2000 versions of To Tell the Truth, the 1999-present version of Family Feud, and both the short-lived 1994 version and since 2001, a regular substitute on the daytime version of The Price Is Right, including the first three episodes of The Price Is Right $1,000,000 Spectacular."

=========================================================

Burton Richardson also sometimes VO'd the PAX incarnation of "Supermarket Sweep" earlier in this decade, usually filling in for Randy West. He also subbed for Rod Roddy on The Price Is Right, while Roddy underwent treatments for breast cancer several years ago (yes, even men can get it too) and for a short period after Roddy's death, before the show's current announcer Rich Fields took over.

Burton M. Richardson spent some time as a KISN Good Guy (after the Good Guy days)...and before that, he started on the old KGAR 1550, where I got to know his radio persona...

That's good enough for me...How 'bout you?

I believe that B.M.R was the only African American DJ to jock at Kisn during the Star Station ownership.
