Remember when Obama repeatedly said there would be no tax increases for the middle and low income. Well, guess again. He's now wants to tax your health care provided by your employer. I haven't decided whether this is good or bad, but if you thought you were going to get off free and clear with Obama, I think I may have been right in saying that wouldn't happen. http://www.iht.com/articles/2009/03/15/america/health.php

you know there will be an increase in energy taxes at some point, and that hits the middle and lower income people the hardest. I'm not ready to point the finger at OBAMA for EVERY revenue enhancement proposal. This stuff originates in the house of Nancy before going anywhere. The President can certainly offer proposals, but the house instigates...........

I've often found that the people who bitch the most about paying taxes, often don't pay that much themselves, because they don't make that much. Deane Johnson is another "Joe the Plumber" worrying about being taxed on something he doesn't have. And if you read the article, Obama is not proposing to tax health benefits, he's saying he'd leave it on the table if CONGRESS wants to take a look at it. You haven't been right in years, and today isn't your lucky day.

Vitalogy, you shouldn't be trying to type this stuff while you're playing with yourself. It gets all mixed up. "And if you read the article, Obama is not proposing to tax health benefits, he's saying he'd leave it on the table if CONGRESS wants to take a look at it" Obama doesn't want to take responsibility for any position. That's why most of his voting record is "present".

"Obama doesn't want to take responsibility for any position." There is absolutely nothing wrong with having a stated goal and allowing various groups (the White House, Congress, various levels of state and local government, industry/trade groups) to contribute to a possible resolution. Politics is about give and take. The President is not in a position to dictate the terms of a health care bill to Congress. It's a very expansive process, including powerful legislative committees that will be debating how to best address the problem in a legislative form. In order for things to get accomplished, a good leader will work with different groups to find a common resolution. Once the process has coalesced around a single idea, then it’s time for the leader to aggressively sell the idea. What President Obama has vowed to do is make the health care debate an open process. We saw what happened with the Clinton Plan – and clearly they don’t want to make the same mistake twice. But an even more egregious mistake would be to ignore the problem entirely, which is what has happened for far too long. Tinkering around the edges will not solve the health care problem. Remember, President Carter tried to ram legislation down a Democratic Congresses throat and this approach left him a rather unpopular leader with key Democrats on the Hill. In order to get things accomplished, the White House has to walk a very fine line.

It seems to me that President Obama has has laid it on the line with the stimulus package. Vitalogy is correct: "You haven't been right in years, and today isn't your lucky day." LOL!
