Perhaps. Still a sad reflection on the state of the industry. Brings to mind the dam breech in the midwest when no one was answering the phone at a cluster of automated stations (which could be anywhere these days) resulting in small town near catastrophe.

This is what has become of radio broadcasting.

I notice the gentleman is not changing the station..must be waiting for the commercial break..

His head goes to the beat...

Similar to some of the wrap crap my kids listen to - in fact its better - at least I can understand the words!)

I think this is Citadel's new format of the month to go up against all the new CHRs that CBS is putting on the air.

So, what shameful station was this 91.9? Does anybody know? Is this 91.9 still using transcription discs? :-)

On this note, during the ice storms that recently hit the south, my brother called to inform me that every station in the greater northern Arkansas area was off the air on the AM band, and only one FM was on the air at around 4:30 in the afternoon when it hit, yet they never deviated from their satellite country music program during the 3 hours he stayed tuned in. Thousands of people were without power, downed lines and trees were everywhere, and homes were destroyed, yet the only local station on the air was on the bird.

Assuming this guy was taking the Indiana Toll Road to Toledo, my best guess is the station in question is Calvary Chapel’s WQKO/Howe, IN. It has a clean shot for a good 35 miles or so in NE Indiana.

This is also assuming there are local drops in the satellite programming (since I don’t listen). Otherwise that cool stutter would have been heard on hundreds of stations (1000s if you count translators).
