...FT middays and they're looking for someone to "participate in new media initiatives", whatever that means. They say the need is immediate.

One of the best salesmen I've every worked with, Greg Stevens, is at Mixx 96. Must be a decent gig.

Why the need to stream?
That is a value added item that should only be done if it generates revenue and you have the ability to play alternate spots to generate even more revenue. If a station is just streaming their signal they are not very savvy. I am amazed at how many are streaming for no reason other than a few, and that is few, listeners to hear it at work or when on a trip or mom can hear it in Pocatella. Streaming just to be "cool" is not good business and is one of the MANY reasons radio is in trouble. See the ball, be the ball Noonan.

At least some sort of banner ads to pay for expenses but it's one of the futures of radio...we've got to be tied to the internet cause that's where life is going...big time.

It's Pocatello. Or, as us East Idaho locals say, "Poky"

Here at KING-FM we've been streaming since 1995. In the beginning it was just to establish a presence on the Internet. (I agree with Broadway that the Internet is where life is going, and radio has to go there in a big way) Now we have four separate programming streams (with more on the way)and the Internet side of our station is paying it's own way. I think another big question for all of us is how our stations will compete in an 11000 station plus global Internet market. I see the only way involving distinctiveness, really being different and, for some stations, hyperserving the local community.

KING's Evergreen Channel is a *very* nice discovery! (Prefer the Winamp player, though...) It's now bookmarked on this computer...

Thanks. There's a direct Portland connection to the Evergreen Channel, too. Maxine Frost, the "voice" of the EC is from Portland, where she worked for KBPS-FM and "The River." She does a great job. I think we're really lucky to have her.

Yes, this is why stations choose to stream. It's another area to sell spots, and another option for the at-work listener, who may not have a radio available.

I don't have any money on this bet, but I'll ask anyway: was she also Kim Maxwell of KUFO and KNRQ fame?

I always loved the name: Maxine instead of Max Frost. We also had an Eric Stratton in traffic.
