OK. When I first read the reports about the chimp attack I thought "OK, it's just another case of an animal wigging out and attacking someone."

That happens, and I'm not sure I agree with regular people having exotic pets. If you are a trained professional then it's OK if you are able to provide suitable habitat and living arrangements for the animal.

NOW though, it's getting weird, if not kinky!

Not having known any chimpanzees myself, I was surprised how human-like Travis was; this chimp drank wine, ate ice cream, and rode tricycles! What makes this weird to me is that a chimpanzee can be so human-like, yet it is not a human in that it cannot understand human values and social conventions. I feel somewhat badly for the poor chimp, though I firmly believe that as part of living amongst humans, by necessity, he had to play by their rules, which he was incapable of understanding. He broke those rules, and as a result, he had to suffer the consequences, for the good of the society around him.

Yeah, that part is weird, but the sleeping in the same bed and cuddling and taking baths together is bordering on kinky or beastiality.

I really don't know what to say about the lady taking baths together with the chimp. If that had been a pre-pubescent human, then that would certainly not be considered OK!

I see this as animal abuse and she should be charged.

Vitalogy, You must be wrong because I agree with you!

There are distinct differences between domesticated and wild animals. Chimp, Cheetah,
Elephant or Emu, You can train them, but they will ALWAYS be a "wild animal" It is a long evolution from wild to domestic that very few species have made. your neighbors house cat will still kill your pet mouse, and their doberman will eat your kitty in most cases. No matter how tame the chimp was the hard wiring still perceived the friend as a threat to the FAMILY
