WASHINGTON - In a big blow to parents who believe vaccines caused their children's autism, a special court ruled Thursday that the shots are not to blame.

The judges in the cases said the evidence was overwhelmingly contrary to the parents' claims — and backed years of science that found no risk.

"It was abundantly clear that petitioners' theories of causation were speculative and unpersuasive," the court concluded in one of a trio of cases ruled on Thursday.

Thank goodness, some sanity! Science and common sense has prevailed.

I'm hardly in a position to dispute it. I'll just say that I hope the findings are correct. But it's not like we haven't been told that things were safe for a long time, only to find out that they were wrong.

Study after study has compared the rate of autism among kids who are vaccinated with kids who were not vaccinated. The rate is the same. In study after study. What more evidence do you need?

To the people who are convinced autism is caused by vaccines, I have a question: what is causing the equally high rate of autism among the kids who aren't vaccinated?

What more evidence do you need?

Personally? None. I already made the choice to get my son vaccinated.

Do you not see at least the reasons why I might wonder sometimes though? If that's a flaw, then so be it. But it's not something I can just turn off immediately. Given time, I'll likely come around to 100%.

Fair enough?

If you weren't initially fearful about everything concerning your young child, you probably wouldn't be a good parent. But, you should also let rational thinking reassure you and help you make wise decisions.

The idea that vaccines cause autism was raised and challenged. We didn't blindly follow science - we tested it.

And FYI, vaccine makers removed mercury from almost all vaccines a few years ago anyway, out of an overabundance of caution. The rate of autism has not declined.
