For those interested! While in the middle of cleaning the garage getting ready to move, I found some past radio promo stuff, like Q105 Power Hits frisbees from 1987. The two choices I have are yellow with black logo and a few blue with white logo. If interested, it's first come, first serve. If ya want one, shoot me an email of interest and if I send you a "confirmation", you'll need to either shoot me a self addressed stamped big envelope to cover the cost of a 10 1/2 inch diameter frisbee or you can send me a donation at least large enough to cover it and I'll throw them out. I mean send 'em out. After giving some to my current air staff, I've got about 10 or 11 left, and will probably mail them all out on the same day sometime later next week after I visit Vancouver, BC. Thanks, TA We now return you back to regular programming.

I've got one of those frisbees! I've also got a red and white, striped Q105 sweatshirt. For reasons that I cannot fully explain, it doesn't seem to fit.

Yeah, Lander. Sounds like my jacket and a tee. Couldn't believe I was the same height, but a medium to large then. I remember throwing a party later in years when my shoulders finally took me to an XL. Now wouldn't that be a SCARY staff reunion party. All of us wearing our tight tees with some beer guts here and there. LOL Take care, man!

I loved the Power Q back in the day. Archer, Big Jim Ryan, Terry Jacobs, John Travis, Julie Marletto, Scott Lander, etc. Great jocks. I wish I had half their talent. Didn't Scotty and Marie do mornings for a while as well?

Scott Tom & Marie Dodds were Q105's final morning show, before Sinclair did the unthinkable, and blew up one of Portland's most beloved radio stations. Q105 was the only Hot AC in the market, and never should have been flipped.

I've been around PDX radio since the late '80s. After Q105 was flipped, the market was without Hot AC for many months. 95.5 eventually evolved back to Hot AC, but the ratings never quite compared to Q105. 95.5 foolishly abandoned Hot AC by the end of 1997. It took 105.1's sale to Entercom, to bring Hot AC (Rosie 105) back to the old Q105 signal.

Does anyone happen to have a copy of the "DJ Song" that was on the Q in 86-88 or so? It was to the tune of "Look at all these rumors" The lines I remember are: "Todd Allen works real late, he got no middle name..." And about Big Jim Ryan: "When his shift is over, his mommy drives him home" There was something about Scary Larry Rogers. Sigh. I called myself SteakWinner because I won a dinner for 2 at the "Palladium" from Archer on the Breakfast Q. My grandpa and I went, we were the only two in the place.

Apparently, this was a parody of "Rumors" sung by someone other than Timex Social Club. I would love to hear it!

Pdxcoug mentioned John Travis above. He came back to the Tri Cities after Q105 died. He did KORD, then KIOK , country stations...Then got out after Thunder Country had a shake up, got married for the 3 or 4th time. Had another kid. I think that makes about 9 total ! He does voice work for the Mormon Church, still , I think. Much of the children's audio programs and other studioworks for the Church. He and his wife run a Day Care business as well.

A 12 foot record must have been difficult to play and many stations don't have the proper equipment.

Yes, it was a parody of Rumors that was about the Q's lineup in those days. They used to occasionally record their own songs. I also remember some other strangeness like they would insert Q105 into pop songs, so you'd be listening to "Who Will You Run To?" by Heart, and there would be a line changed, so instead of "blah blah blah you", it would say "rocking at the power q" or something along those lines. Anyway, if anyone knows where that Q105 DJ version of "rumors" can be found, I'd be eternally grateful. My wife had me toss about 200 cassettes from my childhood when we moved, including the times I made it on air with my phone calls. (usually during the Breakfast Q) Darned wives :D

Oh, my gosh Steakwinner, I FORGOT all about that "Rumors" parody. YOU ARE CORRECT! Too bad you didn't score any of those first five callers get $500 each when we started in Portland. You would have deserved it for remembering that. If someone comes up with that great! I may, keyword there... MAY have a copy on cassette as I was going through another box last weekend and noticed some tapes in there from my Z and Q days. I saw some parody stuff I did, but "Rumors" was not mine. However, in the coming weeks, I will take a look, and if I still have one, I'll burn and send. I can't believe I forgot that, because everything in it was kind of real joke... JR would ride home many times with Denise our GM, so we knew the tie there. The Scary Larry thing was he liked odd ball B-movie stuff. Yeah, the no middle name was correct, as I've always been legal with the IRS with two names. They all knew that my full name was spelled every way through my family history. I'm trying to remember the rest, but now I will have to see if I have it! Seriously, I can't believe I forgot that. OK, you score a frisbee. LOL Remember, it's a B I G M A Y B E if I have a copy, but I WILL look either this weekend or next. First, I have to spend a weekend reconditioning my two Shure 55s from the 60's. Thanks for the flashback. I'm definitley getting up there now.

Some more lyrics that came to me: Look all these DJ's, you hear them every day On Q 1-0-5, that's where they're gonna stay (and then someone shouts "get down!" or something. Hehe. My friend called and said he heard Archer on a station recently. Somewhere on the FM dial. I remember when Archer was on that Portland-produced game show with some other DJ's. I remember looking at the TV and saying "He looks like my 7th grade science teacher!"

Cool. I think I was on the air about a ten times total almost all with ARcher, between requests, guesses at quizzes, and whatever else. I had to sing the Breakfast Q jingle (with Archer going "arf arf" the whole time) to get my Steak dinner. What's crazy, is that it was one of Archer's bits that got me thinking about Q105 again recently. It was right after Sean Penn punched some reporter who was trying to take a pic of him when he was with Madonna. Archer played a song that was supposedly by Sean Penn. It turned out to be "I don't like your face" by The Heats, which I stumbled upon again online sorta randomly.

I'm still in Portland. I listened to KSKD before I got into Q105. "Serrrving the great northwest with FIVE hits in a row, 100,000 watt, KSKD, Salem, Newberg" Seems like KSKD was automated though, or the DJs just sounded like recordings. After the demise of the Q, I slowly drifted away from listening to the radio. Now with things like Pandora and 60 gig mp3 players, I don't listen to the radio much. I miss trying to be the fifth caller though.

Not really. After I got a boom box with a double tape deck on it, it was mixtapes for me from then on out. Only radio I listened to was Dr. Demento. You know, I just now realized that calling the US Bank Corp Tower, "The Big Pink Tower of Power" might've been a penis joke.

This sounds dumb, but I was very young in those days, and wasn't allowed to listen to Q105 until they went AC. Parental units thought Top 40 was "immoral."
