This morning, sometime between 5:30 and 6:30 I tuned by KSL (1160) in Salt Lake City. They had their usual monster signal, but underneath them I could clearly hear a Spanish language station. I've never ever heard any co-channel interference to KSL before so I did a little research. I can't find any other US station in the west on 1160. But there is a 10kw daytimer in San Quintin, Baja California on 1160. San Quintin looks like a couple hundred miles south of the border. I'll bet KSL gives them fits on winter mornings.

Sorry. I didn't mean to hijack. There is just something about Scott's observation that smacked of some recent story lines in the show Lost.

For those of you who are not trapped in concrete bunkers, this afternoon may have some interesting mediumwave daytime skip opportunities. I was in the car some 45 minutes ago, and I started tuning through the frequencies between KLYC and KKPZ. I noted a reasonably strong signal on 1300 that turned out to be KKOL. There was also a 1290 station (KUMA?) that came in occasionally, but with a weaker signal.
