OK.

Let's see 4 Trillion $'s divided by 8 years is only(?!?) 1/2 a trillion $'s per year.

Obama has been in office slightly more than a week and his "stimulus" package is nearly a trillion $'s.

I'm not sure there are enough 0's in the world if one was to extrapolate that out to just 4 years!

Hmmm.

Of course, the reason Obama has to spend a trillion dollars now is to keep the ever-shrinking economy Bush gave him from spiraling into another great depression. This trillion dollars ought to be tacked onto the cost attributed to Bush during the last eight years.

In the same way, people weren't congratulating new president George W. Bush in late January 2001 for his fiscal prowess for giving the US Treasury a huge surplus. Get it?

"another great depression."

I like Thom Hartmann's suggestion that we need to refer to this as:

"another Republican great depression."

This needs to be hammered home.

Banking problems were started by Dems
Barney Frank, Christopher Dodd, Barbara Boxer.

It's in the Congressional Record. Read it.

They resisted Bush administration attempts to reign it in and they said everything was just fine.

People weren't paying attention because they hated Bush so much.

I am not a Bush supporter, but you have to pay attention. Most people don't. I'll bet those supporting this last stimulus bill haven't read it to see exactly what is in it and what it does. It does not stimulate. It just pork spends, for the most part.

Nope.
It begins with financial Deregulation.
Remember the Republican Savings & Loan debacle?

What do think would happen if you removed the Ref's from a football game?

"It's in the Congressional Record. Read it."

Post it, I'll read it.

Barney Frank??? He was in the minority in the House until January 2007. How could he have had any influence over this before that time? Our banking problems started long before 2007.

Dodd and Boxer could have filibustered or blocked legislation in the Senate given that individual senators have more power than House members - but what legislation specifically did they prevent from going to vote in the Senate that their Republican colleagues want to be passed in Congress? Dodd and Boxer too were in the minority for all but 1.5 years between 1995 and 2007.

This is the thing that slays me. The republicans sit up on capitol hill and want to lecture the Dems and the country about fiscal responsibility when it comes to the stimulus package, but when it came to their precious war, they couldn't spend money fast enough and the Skybills and Herbs of the world defended them.

I heard a Senator, a stupid hic from Alabama (yeah, I guess that is redundant), talking about how you can do too much when it comes to the stimulus, but eight years of Bush spending like a drunken sailor for what THEY want, well that's OK.

Humble..
Who was in office for 8 years and had a Republican heavy Congress for 6 of that? In 2 years the Dems caused the whole economy to collapse? COME ON! You seriously can sit there and tell us that's the truth? COME ON!
