Received this E-Mail. Rather than having me explain it, Laura said I could post her letter for your input on suggestions she should consider. I explained, this is not easy to answer, since most radio news audio is not kept, like television video: ____________________________________________________________ Hello Craig, Laura: I got your name through Mike Dirkx, who tells me that you're the man to talk to concerning all things Portland Radio. I am working with a production team for a large exhibit for The Oregon Historical Society about different aspects of Oregon's History from 1950 to Present. One of the components is a piece on different Urban Renewal projects in Portland, including the revamping of the Albina district, due to the construction of the Memorial Coliseum, and the expansions of Legacy Emmanuel hospital and I-5. We were hoping to find news broadcast clips about this demolition/construction. Or a second best, would be a Portland news radio program from the late 50's early 60's, from which to model a mock-up broadcast. Do you have any thoughts or suggestions as to where this material might be hiding? Looking forward to your input. All best, Laura Hardin

Laura should check the OHS archives of all of the old KOIN TV video they have. I'll also bet that KGW's archives have clips. KING broadcasting kept EVERYTHING! I would hope they would have saved all the old footage.
