(tongue in cheek for those with no sense of humor)

So Mr. Obama is now President, and my life hasn't changed one bit. What a gyp! Where's the jobs? Where's the improved middle class lifestyle?

(sent at exact moment he took office)

You sent it 5 minutes too late, Roger. Barack Obama legally became president at noon eastern time, a few minutes before he took the Oath. Taking the Oath has no legal meaning.

I guess now Dubya can go back to his old ways of boozing, snorting, and running companies into the ground. At least this time it won't be a nation.

Typical.

Taking the Oath has no legal meaning.

Then he shouldn't have wasted time taking it. There's work to do!!!

" I promise to faithfully execute the previous President... I mean execute all those in office... nevermind

The speech should have consisted of.....

"...As I look out across Washington, I see an awful lot of slackers. Get back to work people! And, pick up your trash when you go. Don't be leaving your trash in my yard. Go home, go to work. Do your part. For those of us staying.... PARTY TIME!!!!!

Darn tootin!! We're an instant gratification culture. We want everything on-demand. We have podcasts. We have on-demand cable TV. We have fast food. We have mail-order Chinese and Russian brides. There's no time for all this pomp and circumstance.

That had "Tradition"

'Instant News Camera'..

I always wanted to market a little packet of tasteless powder called Instant Water.

Directions:

Empty contents into container
Add 2 cups of water
Stir until disolved.

Makes 2 cups.

Serving suggestions:
heat water first for a warm beverage.
Add icecubes for a refreshing summertime treat.

...we'd still be listening to (recorded) music on cylinder phonographs, by gas light..........

What else is there?

I saw a can of dehydrated water once at a camp in Canada I went to as a kid.

Those were the directions; Add water and stir!

That darned recorded music put so many musicians out of work! Don't get me started on how many workers in the whale hunting and candle making industries lost their jobs to those gas lights! :-)

*sighs and shakes head*
You know Roger, you REALLY need to stop editing the spelling of my posts. Much of the irony of my post was lost in your edit!

(Thomas Edison was even known to sometimes use the traditional spellings on his cyllindre record boxes--see the box for an "EDISON GOLD-MOULDED RECORD" for example. Of course, when you come right down to it, we've no-one to blame but Noah Webster himself for ruining the English language and purging much of its majesty and grandeur.........)

Motozak2:

Do you have a link that shows that package, or know the time frame that it was used? Is it rare? I don't think I have ever seen one that stated anything other than "Record", as in "Amberol Record" or "Blue Amberol Record" or "Gold Moulded Record" or "Edison Record".

http://img212.imageshack.us/img212/5716/ed1908bb4.jpg (I actually have one of both of these! Unfortunately the records inside are Blue Amberols, not Gold Moulded.)

Apparently Edison used the Gold Moulded brand from about 1902-1912 or so.

Thanks for the links... these are similar to the containers that I have seen/collected, but I don't see the word "cyllindre" or for that matter "cylinder" on these containers, and would question that Edison would bother to identify them as such until, perhaps the time that he produced the flat "Diamond Disc", which was past the era of the "Gold Moulded series". Am I missing something?

No. I spelt it as "cyllindre" as part of the joke, keeping with the tradition stuff I was lambasting Broadway about. I've never seen or read of any Edison record packaging that spells it that way either.

(That's not to say that such packaging doesn't exist, and for all I know it very well might.....)
