I just came home from a visit to portland and noticed all of the thrifty auto supply buildings painted plain white and new carquest signs on them. Also noticed a former carquest building that is now closed on Halsey st. Did Thrifty go under? I think it was a local owner if I remember right.

Several years ago, late-1990's, I think. (At least the few that were here in the Coove were all boarded up and put up for lease by at least 2000, if I remember right......)

Hey, I just remembered . . . That former Thrifty's Auto Parts on Mill Plain near Andresen Rd used to be a . . . Burger Chef fast food joint! Gosh, they must have gone belly up around 1972 . . .

Someone mentioned Burger Chef on another board. Apparently, they were purchased by Hardee's many years ago.
