So, forgive me for being obtuse, but reading the semi-updated "radio-locator.com" site, I noticed a station at 96.3 being moved in from Redmond/Warm Springs to West Linn. Does anyone know any more info about this, whether it's actually going to still happen or not?

Also, since 96.3 and second adjacent 95.9 both have translators, do those translators automatically get bumped into the death pile as a result of this move-in?

The answer to both of your questions is yes. We will get a full-powered station on 96.3, and it will bump the translators off the air. Here are some additional details:

KWLZ's application to move to West Linn on 96.3 has been granted. It is to operate with a directional pattern(protecting KZEL Eugene)as a Class C3 with 2.9Kw @ 297 meters above average terrain from the Stonehenge tower. In order for this to occur, KXXO Olympia will move its transmitter to the Olympic Peninsula. I think there is a chance that KZEL will be downgraded to Class C0, enabling KWLZ to be nondirectional. Also, KBPS-FM's application to increase power to 5.2kw has been granted.

The above text came from an old and very long thread that can be found here

There is a transmitter site on Mt Hood near Timberline that is shared by several FM stations, here is the plot for KPFR (89.5).

I believe 88.7 KLVP and 90.3 KZRI also transmit from this site.

Isn't that the same tower that, supposedly, would be the home for 94.3 KTIL if (and this is an if, because I've heard the entire move is in dire straits already) they got their CP to move?

The translators at 96.3 (in Portland and Salem) will be forced out of the way, but the translator at 95.9 won't be affected.

As stated later in the same thread, KWLZ applied to modify their construction permit to non-directional and reclassify KZEL to C0 status. This application is currently held up because of an objection from the same company that objected to the existing construction permit. (I don't understand how a filing can be delayed in this manner. You'd think once would be enough and any more would just be ignored.) For these and other fascinating posts, check out the last several years of "Towers & Such" and its similarly named threads.
