Sad shit. I fear however we are only going to see more of these kinds of incidents, that is if its a financial matter that led this SOB to do this cowardly act!

I wonder why, of all places, this happened in Woodburn. I had been wondering whether terrorists might be behind this, but one would think that terrorists would be more likely to select a bank in a higher profile location. It does seem more likely that this was perpetrated by some wacko who was angry over a financial matter.

This incident begs the question of why 2 state troopers, a police chief, and not to mention a bank employee, were huddled over something "unusual" they found outside and brought INTO the building just shortly after a bomb threat was called in.

Me thinks police protocol around this area is gonna be shaken to the core in the next few months.

My brother works for NorComm in Woodburn. NorComm is the area's regional 911 call center. He was called in on Friday and has been busy ever since.

Press conference today at 3pm with information on the suspect and vehicle involved.

I hope they get this fucker!

Yeah, me too.

Skep, that's an excellent question. I'm thinking it might just be a training issue. How often do the Woodburn guys get exposed to this kind of thing?

Kind of a major bummer all around.

The State guys should have received some better info though. Tough to figure out. Hoping there is a good explanation for it.

Two people dead is a horrible way to learn about this stuff.

My first question hearing this story was "why on earth would law enforcement pick up a suspected bomb found outside a building and bring it INTO a bank?"

Terribly sad for the loss of life. But c'mon alfredo.... terrorists in Woodburn? That's so Fox.

And it's not the financial situation that causes events like this... its a world where this is seen as an acceptable response to the financial situation that's the problem. Where "Blow 'em away" is seen as a strong and powerful response, rather than a craven and insane one.

Now that more info has trickled in, it was a state trooper and a Woodburn police captain that got killed, both bomb defusing experts.

The media said the bomb blew up just right after it was scanned.

Without trying to be so FOX, something tells me they thought conditions were safe. If that's the case, it must have been one heck of a sophisicated bomb or one of them pulled an elementary blunder. Either way, gotta feel for people whose jobs can result in consequences like this.

{But c'mon alfredo.... terrorists in Woodburn?}

I'd classify any chicken s&%t that would leave a bomb any where as a terrorist.

They may not fit the stereotype of terrorists, but they are terrorists just the same.

When they catch the person/people who did this, try them, find them guilty and give them the same penalty that the state trooper and Woodburn officer got.

In the same way. Blow them up. Then give EVERY dollar of assets that they have to the trooper and officers families. Although I doubt that it would amount to much more than pocket change.

Before this thread gets shuffled off into the archives, was motive behind the bombings ever made public? The last time I heard this story in the news, it was revealed that the suspects were a father-and-son team. However, I haven't run across any stories that give a hint about why this was carried out.
