Santa came early this year and delivered a healthy baby boy who is absolutely beautiful and healthy. Everything we could ask for.

Vitalogy I have been waiting to hear this news. I know it's especially gratifying for you and your wife after several miscarriages.

Fatherhood will change you in a good way. Be prepared for the ride of your life. Nothing like it.

I'm in concert with Skybill and Joe as we raise our glasses to you!

Vitalogy, enjoy every minute of fatherhood.

Spend as much time with your child as you can.

Before you know it they will be grown and you'll be a grandpa! (ask me how I know!)

I once heard someone say that a good way to look at it is that even if you have several children, each child only has one dad (you!).

I'm thrilled for you, especially with the difficulties prior to the birth of your son.

So, since no one has asked yet; details man, details!

Well, since I value my privacy on the internet, I won't be giving out his real name, but we can just call him "the little man" for now. He came in at just under 9 lbs and 20 inches, blonde hair just like his parents, and cute as a button! We just got home from the hospital yesterday after braving the elements and we are all doing great. Just like his old man, the little man enjoys boobs too!

Dear Vitalogy,

Belated congratulations! I'm so sorry I missed this post! 2 big and 1 small (virtual) hugs to your family! No one deserves this more than you! As you know, it's even sweeter when you've endured the losses, and hopefully those memories fade with the arrival of "Baby Ed Ved".

I'm so happy for you! The one thing I learned is that it all goes so fast...so if you're missing sleep and wondering "what the heck were we thinking" occasionally, don't worry, you'll be on to the next stage fast enough!

Vit, I also missed the arrival of your bundle of joy. My heartiest congratulations to you and yours. I wish him a long life full of health, hope and happiness. Fatherhood will reward you every day.

Mrs. M, wow, the little bugger is two already? I know they call 'em the "terrible twos" and all, but I bet you enjoy almost every minute of it. Best wishes to your family as well.

It's true about being "rewarded every day".

Some days the reward is pretty hard to find, and you might not feel it until you put your head on the pillow, but it's there. Most days Baby M gives me a total belly laugh at least once.

Okay father/son story just for you Vit and all.

Our son was about 3 yrs. old and I was in the kitchen doing dishes. He was on a chair just in his diapers by the dinning room table and I turned to him and said "You da' man"...my son immediately said "Daddy-you da' man"....we traded this barb back and forth until I finally got really animated and said " YOU......DA".........MAN!!!" My son gets just as animated and says..."Daddy.....you.......da........DOE DOE BRAIN!!"

Ah yes...that child is a teenager now with new and different challenges.

The best age is 3. :-) You got to cherish it because the next thing you know its 13 and you're arguing over cell phone hours.

Thankfully this teenage boy is pretty mellow. Computer time is our daily challenge. When he's being creative I'm all for it. When it's just games only then we monitor it.

Vit-You will come to know the parental battle cry that is known as, "Pick your battles."

But in the mean time simply enjoy this time.
