Great info as usual, Craig! By the way I've been enjoying KISN's weekend so far, great idea. Its fun to hear some oldies I haven't heard in a while.

Yeah, this is great stuff (I just heard the famous "Tina Delgado" cart and somehow it actually makes sense). Makes me thankful to have this website as a place to get a heads-up when something interesting happens on a station I don't usually listen to. Hey, do you think maybe the daily paper could ... oh yeah, never mind.

Wayne & Nitefly: This kisn weekend has been so much fun for me as Jock. It's a kick! I love all the elements we're playing. I don't have to tell you who's behind it all. You Know!

The Blue network eventually became ABC Radio network. For a time, both KEX and KGW transmitters were co-located at the old Delta Park location....the blue and red together. Now we just needed a white network.

Craig,
I went to Madras today (needed another high 80's day) and stopped in at the burger place on the right going south prior to the turnoff for Cove Palisades (at the Texaco). Their PA system was playing KISN.

Jimbo: Wonder if they were using an external antenna. I know Kisn comes in at different points in Central Oregon. Maybe they're in just the right place. I remember kisn came in very well in (North) LaPine a few years back. We also had a listener for awhile in the Redmond area who would call in requests.

Might have been a cable hook up. Some of the Portland stations are carried on the cable as far south as Diamond Lake, or at least they were a few years ago.

So CBS only had two of the top twelve shows and NBC-Blue had none! I think Mutual began in 1935 so those are probably the only serious choices.

Semoochie: NBC would program all their left overs on The Blue Network. When the FCC forced them to sell one of their Networks in the 1940's, it wasn't hard to pick which one would go.

Somewhere, I had the idea that the Blue network was more elite than the red, airing more fine arts programming. I don't know if that's true or not because it was WAY before my time!

The Blue Network did tend to have more highbrow stuff, such as lectures and classical music. A much greater portion of its programming was offered on a non-advertiser sustaining basis

On the other hand, we're talking about a time when people would tune in in large numbers to hear someone like Bishop Sheen!
