Does anybody still listen to 970 am now that Rick Emerson(and any semblance of a local connection) is gone? Have any of their new Lars clones brought new listeners in at all?

I know that, but what about the unofficial scoop? Rumors, stories-is anyone one this board listening more to 970 because of the general changes, or because of any particular new voice there?

970 was once my #1 preset. Now it isn't a preset at all. I could deal with Rick going to KUFO, but when they got rid of Mike O'Meara and replaced him with the same old politcal crap that's on most all other AM stations, that did it for me.

I listen to Phil Hendrie on 970, but that is about it. Overall, I am not quite sure to what degree CBS Radio Portland's management should be blamed for turning 970 into an also-ran political talk outlet. They certainly deserve the blame for not running the O'Meara show anymore. However, the loss of Tom Leykis was another significant deterioration of their lineup that they had no control over. It seems that the Hot-Talk format is just going through some tough times now.

well, I really have been missing Tom the past 3 or 4 years. Where I live, he has been off that station for about that long. I think that 970 might have been better to switch back to all comedy radio. At least it's something that might make somone on earth laugh at somepoint during the day?? I think. Kinda hard to remember the days that it was A.C.R. If and when Tom ever returns to radio, they might have a chance to survive the clouds in the forcast.

970's exact Comedy format is on KRSK-HD2. It looks like K-Hits is usually playing 4 songs an hour from the 60s, IF they have control of the programming. They don't have control during Tom Kent's show and there's a syndicated network on the weekend that seems to run 2 per hour.
