With KXL and KPAM running the same two or three ads over and over and the fact Lars and Victoria are out of touch with the rest of the world, is anyone really listening to them?

Georgene Rice heard 4-6PM daily at 93.9 KPDQ FM now syndicates her show on Salem's Seattle station daily...50kw at 820AM...KGNW.

Well, the KPOJ morning team seems to have listeners, and it leads into a nice national show that clearly has listeners.

Maybe selling AD time right now is just really tough.

Didn't realize Georgene's show was up in Seattle now. Good for her.

However I still don't listen. But I have been to KGNW back a few years ago.

According to the latest Arbitron ratings, people are, indeed, listening to Victoria Taft and Lars Larson. Lars is, of course, a bigger ratings success than Victoria. This begs the question, why is KPAM content to be a lower-rated "also-ran," instead of taking its format in a direction other than politics? Was the failure of "advice radio" 1550 KKAD a painful experience that forever scared Pamplin away from doing any lifestyle talk programming ever again?

Speaking of Georgene Rice, does anyone know whatever happened to Lew Davies? Whether you agreed with him or not, he was always able to articulate his thoughts very clearly in a non fanatical way.

He's doing very well in Mannatech...

I think the change came because of the drop of nostalgia on 1520AM...opportunistic move because the station always had ratings.

Oregon's Republican party is poorly runned. They keep the same boobs around like Sizemore and care more about serving developers and a few businesses then the public. It's not good for the same group of democrats to control everything for decades but until the Republican Party becomes more inclusive nothing is going to change.

Rick Emerson, Sarah Dylan and Tim Riley do a nice job at AM970. And, I like Mark & Dave on KEX on occasion, primarily Fridays.

The incoming administration should fuel the fire of the right-wing talk hosts. Limbaugh gained his popularity during the Clinton years. I would imagine ALL radio ad revenue is down now. There's certainly no reason for conservatives to feel "too complacent to listen" to right-wing radio these days! I don't think it's dying.

"Actually, Limbaugh had his popularity before the Clinton years."

Very true. Limbaugh was not as big in Portland during that time because Weissbach was on at the same time and kicking Rush's ass in the ratings.

Agreed with Shane.

Conservative talkers have some ego bruises to get over. The permenant majority has slipped away, leaving them in the back seat for a bit. No worries there however.

They love teaching people a lesson. Count on it. The next few years will be spent on both advocacy for conservative causes and solutions (and some of that is warranted, don't get me wrong), with the balance spent on tee-ing things up for the lesson to come, when things go bad.

That should be an if, but these guys are basically all in on the when, because it all comes back to teaching people a lesson.

Ratings will be fine!
