I actually posted this in another thread.

I was discussing this on a conservative christian chat room that i haunt from time to time. Most there agreed that it's hard to believe some schools still think R&R and dancing is evil.

As far as how the school reacted it was split. But ultimately be well aware of anything you sign your name too.

I wonder whether that boy's stepfather expected the school to have rules like this when he enrolled him there.

You can makes rules but if they don't make sense later on and you want to "wiggout" you should have not signed the agreement/attend that institution. This is somewhat of an isolated case...most of the Christian Community enjoys modern day music...they even have their own industry of it...and as far as the dancing goes...there are far bigger fish to fry regarding keeping our kids innocent...say...the internet...

Interesting thing here is that the public school required the kid to get a signature from the private school's principal, and that principal SIGNED for the kid.

Then, the private school punishes the kid for goint to the prom despite the fact that their own principal signed the form.

So then, the school punishes the KID when they should have fired the principal if they felt so strongly about this... Go fig.

Yes it is.

IMHO, it is criminal to enforce significant life penalties on young people in this manner.

That kids whole life has been about framing. Other people framing his life choices for him, and using his need to be educated as leverage to do it.

It is one thing to make those kinds of choices --eyes wide open. Understandable. We all live the life we want to. It's another thing to deny people experiences they need in order to actually choose their life.

Ask them and they will say they are only keeping the kids safe from the evil in this world.

Noble. But...

This is no different than some crazy person, with a fear of some kind, trying to force the child down the same road.

All I see here is authoritarian child abuse. Good thing I'm not in charge. I would put some of these clowns in a cage for a few years.
