I do not believe that Gingrich has learned his lesson yet; This kind of shit no longer works on anyone. You blew it already. Just retire. You are wholly ineffective.

And it's all your own fault. Deal with it.

I'm telling you, Newt is setting himself up for a Presidential run. He wants visibility so when the time comes, his name and image are in folks heads. This is his last chance.

Big time.

And his Achilles heel is "Contract With America". That was, in the end, an epic FAIL.

I'll bet a cookie he gets the nod though. Newt is shrewed and knows language and people and how to apply that to manage perception and falsly set expectations. Master manupulator.

The GOP needs this big, because they are at the core, authoritarian. They do not self-organize well, and that's because they are inhibited by their ideology.

When somebody steps up and presents clarity --and it just needs to be clarity that resonates with basic needs, it does not have to be true in any sense of the word, many Republicans will bite on that big.

Newt can do that, knows he can do that, and is right now doing that. The only thing that will get in the way of a run is if somebody appears, who is new, who has that special spin, like "Contract With America", and can put it out there. If that person is good enough, Newt would run interference for them; otherwise, he's going for the brass ring, mostly because somebody has to do it, or Republicans are toast for a long while.

Huckabee comes to mind...

Newt is just another family values phony. He talks the game but just couldn't keep his little buddy in check.

Abraham Lincoln: "The best way to destroy an enemy is to make them your friend."

Not that we have to be overtly friendly to those who have done some horrible things, but if you can bring part of the wall down I'm for it.
